Near, but not exactly on, luckily.

I just got Hamachi running, does anyone have a PT server up?

I saw you in the Hamachi thread earlier.
There should be a list of networks there.

I'll be on later tonight.

Man it drives me crazy when people can't appreciate good movies... Like my friend actually thinks the two later Terminator movies are better than the two old ones. He claims to be "open-minded" about all kinds of movies, but he does not have the capacity to enjoy any movie made before 1990, and every comedy movie is "so stupid" if it isn't the dude/bro variety of comedy, like Harold & Kumar or American Pie or Van Wilder. Basically he'd give four stars to any sci-fi action movie, but apparently Terminator 1 didn't have a high enough budget for him to enjoy it. Oddly enough, he's also crazy about chick flicks.

I just can't believe anyone could dislike the Marx brothers or Airplane! or..... All the other hundreds of movies from 20+ years ago. There are so many brilliant movies out there. Stuff by Stanley Kubrick, Alfred Hitchcock... Mel Brooks... Just gone to waste

I got that far and clicked the quote button.

Reading the rest below the message box now...

Done.

Agreed, this person lacks the ability to appreciate what people were able to accomplish at the time, whether it be the film industry, video game industry, etc. However, you don't have to have existed at the time to like something from that time, so I wish people would put more effort into looking back.
I feel that they were able to accomplish more with less.

Too many special effects often hinder a movie. Case in point, all of the added scenes to the original StarWars trilogy. When a new scene appears, you just know it all made in a computer and doesn't look real at all.
Before all that, everything was actually built and is physically there. (Which was what made the terminator's endoskeleton so awesome for the first time.)

In the case of The Terminator (which is one of my favorites), I don't see the latter two as being "terrible"; They all just have their own atmospheres. Far too many people say that 3 and 4 were terrible.

Glad to hear someone with similar thoughts.

Yeah I haven't seen the fourth movie yet, but the third one was okay... Y'know, the action scenes are all good enough as something to just take for the spectacle they are... But that movie really took the story of the series in a different direction.

The first two went with the philosophy "Nothing is written, there's no future but what you make for yourself"
Then the third movie came along and said "You're not in control of your own destiny at all, so why bother trying?"

Heh, in the commentary for T2, during the bit with the "No fate" carved in the table, James Cameron said "Man, talk about whacking your theme upside the head. We have it carved in wood with a knife stuck into it." (paraphrased)

Though I hadn't realized the T3 theme switch until your post there... Huh.

While it does take place in the future, bear in mind that at no point does it resemble the flash-forward scenes from 1 & 2, so no plasma stuffs and whatnot. (Which was kind of disappointing.)
I didn't realize it at the time (guess my brain wasn't booted properly), but that's because it doesn't take place that far into the war yet. Durr.

Yikes Loofiloo, sounds like your friend has a pretty warped view on cinema.
I happen to love older films, especially Hitchcock (although I think North by Northwest was overrated). Strangers on a Train is my favorite Hitchcock flick.
