Some of you may have gleaned from asides that I've made that we've been working on our CD orders, basically since before this forum started. I posted a few pictures of the interim product that we've been sending, and which we will continue to send. However, our work on Pocket Tanks has born fruit, and I'm ready to release some info, as well as getting your opinions.

Mike and I have discussed several ideas on how to market this new package, chief among them being a "Collector's Edition", which would come out in the near future. Purchasing this Collector's Edition would get you Pocket Tanks Deluxe and all the weapon packs up to that time (200 weapons in all). This would be burned onto a CD and put in a slimline DVD case, then mailed to you. More information and possibly tweaking of features may be forthcoming in the next few months, but here's some pictures of the package as it stands. Click on the links below the thumbs for full sized pictures.

We think this will be a really attractive offer for new customers, and possibly for longtime fans as well. In addition, it will make a great gift.

So, what do you guys think? Anyone here interested in this kind of thing?

THAT WOULD BE SWEET! About How much would it cost? I NEED IT!

Fantastic artwork by the way. I'll try to buy it as soon as it comes out, even though I have the deluxe version :)

That looks really cool. You guys did a very professional job on it.

I agree that it would be very attractive to new customers, and perhaps old ones too. Also, it would be a great way to give it as a gift since it's a little hard to give the download version. ;)

Also, it is possible that you could put it in stores now. That would help sales I'd think.

I can imagine now, going into Gamestop and seeing Pocket Tanks on the walls. It's truely a beautiful site.

Wow, really nice !
And Brian, you said 200 weapons .
There are now 165 weapons overall excluding 2 new weapons packs, so does that mean that after Blitwise releas 2 new weapons pack that it will release one more pack with 15 weapons !

Red is an inferior colour. Blue would've been better.

Otherwise, this is made of a lot of win...

Hmmm... I might get it. It all depends if you could download more weapons as you would in the deluxe version. Then again I'd probably get it anyways...

To answer some questions and clear up misconceptions.

This wouldn't be available at your local Target, for instance. Not yet. We just recently got this product, and we're hoping to stock it on some businesses in our area that are interested. Small, privately owned shops. Dealing with a chain is a big step that we are eager to look into, but that will have to wait several months at least.

Second, yes, there will be one more 15 pack expansion that will be included in the Collector's edition.

Third, this is not the product that is currently being sent out for the Games on CD option. For one thing, the games on cd often contains files other than Pocket Tanks. For a look at the package that is offered, check here (http://forums.blitwise.com/forums/showthread.php?t=84). Mike was thinking about offering a "Boxed version" option for Pocket Tanks, which would be similar to the GoCD, but with the box and CD art.

In answer to Black Magic's question, you would still be able to download more weapons as they become available...this is basically a cool means of having a backup to your Pocket Tanks installer.

Zwaken

Hm... I don't know quite what to say about the artwork... It seems like something I might initially turn down as "too young" if I saw it, say, at target. Maybe something like the tank you see on the start-up screen. I think that's a little more recognizeable. I would buy this, depending on the cost. Also, would we have to launch pocket tanks from that CD?

That was my reinactment of the day this is released in local stores.

No, you wouldn't have to play it from the CD, though Mike was going to make a special installer that would install the game and all the packs automatically to the same place, which would autorun when you put the CD in your drive.

Zwaken

Heh...that would be sweet.

Brian
02-23-2007, 02:38 AM
At the moment, there's no booklet. It may be something we decide to put in there, but the more we put in, the more it costs to ship, so it's a balancing game at the moment.

Everlast
02-23-2007, 04:13 AM
This just occured to me, that I have never seen a game for PC in that kind of box. It's usually one of those big/medium cardboard boxes. The box style that you have created I always see for game systems, but never a PC. I think you should consider making one of those small square plastic cases, that are usually just big enough to hold the CD. But those are usually just the $10 games, but I would guess they'd be cheaper to ship and stuff though. Anyway I just thought I would throw in some thoughts there. :)

Was It Me?
02-23-2007, 10:20 AM
The last couple of games I've bought in the past year or so have been in that kind of box. The "DVD case" type...

Slade
02-23-2007, 11:10 AM
DVD case/ps2 case. I think the present case model would look cooler to have in my game library...

Brian
02-23-2007, 01:38 PM
Those CD jewel cases are often subject to cracking and breaking. Also, the DVD case makes inserting art such as we have done much easier.

Yeah, I wish I could find my school project and post it here. I made an animation for a book report. That morning I got shoved in a locker with the DVD in my pocket. The case cracked and one shard went about an inch into my skin. I got the day off. And the teacher didn't want blood on a project. Those jewel cases crack to easy.

We don't have any set prices yet. At the moment, owning the Deluxe version doesn't affect the price of the Collector's Edition. Finally, one box is a slim line, which will be given to anyone who orders via the internet, the other is a full sized DVD case which will be distributed to a small number of our local businesses.

You have local businesses? Well, the slim line is cool, but the DVD case is unique too, plus it'd go well in my game collection. I'll just get both.:D

Brian
02-26-2007, 02:32 PM
What I meant by "Our local businesses" was businesses in OUR local area. I wanted to clarify that it would not be YOUR local businesses. :)

We were planning on sending out the slim line to any people who ordered through the website, mainly for shipping cost reasons, but it may not be unreasonable to have a full sized box option for those who want it, maybe for a dollar more to cover increased costs. I'll bring it up with Mike.

Likely, yes. Mike said, as I mentioned elsewhere several times, that he believes he knows what is causing the problem that a few people are experiencing, and thus, he is likely to fix it (if it is something that can be fixed on our end) in the next update, which is likely to come before the Collector's Edition comes out.
