View Full Version : Inappropriate Posting.

Those of you who were on yesterday know the particular post/posters that precipitate this thread. The less said the better. For the posters in general, let me remind you that this forum is family friendly, and that ALL posts must adhere to that ideal. This is outlined in our Terms of Service, which each and every one of you agreed to when you registered an account. I highlight the relevant passage below:

BlitWise and its members wish for the forums here to be available to all people, of various ages, backgrounds, and sensitivities. Therefore, language or behavior which would be inappropriate to use in an intended Family-Friendly environment is therefore not allowed. Foul, offensive, or abusive language is forbidden. This includes the use of swearing, racial, religious, or sex-based slurs, as well as any language designed solely to demean or belittle another poster. Sexual comments and sexual innuendo are also violations of the TOS. Attempting to use words which are forbidden by altering the spelling, or replacing letters with asterisks (*), is also considered a violation. Posts and/or threads found to be in violation may be edited or removed by the Forum Moderator, and the offending poster given a private warning. If a poster shows a pattern of such uncorrected behavior he may have his membership suspended for a given period of time, or, in certain cases, may be banned from the forums entirely.

Understand three things. First, it is the domain solely of the Moderators and Administrators of this board to determine what a TOS violation is. Second, it is the domain solely of the Moderators and Administrators of this board to determine what an appropriate response to any violation is. I'm a reasonable person, and I will listen to any defenses or requests you may have, and any appeals on infractions that are assigned. I am particularly inclined to be lenient towards anyone who is polite, well spoken, and shows some measure of repentance. That being said, the third thing to understand is this: just because all you see is the velvet glove doesn't mean there isn't an iron fist in it.

I was on yesterday, a person was posting inappropriately. Everything he posted was worthy of a report. I think he was trying to get banned. He was postin inappropriately.

Yep. I'm pretty sure that's what Brian was referring to.

As for the replacing of inappropriate words with asterisks, would it be considered okay to say something along the lines of "what the (bleep)"?

Seriously doubt thats ok... It could be classified as altered spelling if you really get into it, but just because its not written down in the rules doesn't mean its ok. But, you don't really get the idea of what you are saying, I found 56 words that could fit that spot in one minute or less, 3 were swears. Wow, I contradicted myself 3 times in the above paragraph... Weird. I think I'll write a book on physics now.

Clarification on language. I'd really rather stay away from profanity in all its forms. If you want to go ahead and use bleep, I'll overlook it, as long as it isn't a pattern. Besides...why be a follower? Be creative when you're upset! I don't want to see s-word this and f-word that. By all means, though, swear by Odin's beard. Condemn your foe with fire and brimstone. How about a little "pox on both your houses"? I expect so much more from you guys.

Hey Brian, when are we allowed to post new threads and what is the cause/purpose?

Brian
02-09-2007, 03:29 PM
I'm not sure what your question is regarding, Slade. Unless you meant specifically in this forum. Since it is a forum strictly for announcements, of course, new threads are only able to be started by Moderators. However, you can still post here about issues that are brought up, and, of course, if you have any particular questions, you can always PM me.

What I mean/meant is can anyone just start a new thread if they have a good idea or something?

Brian

Absolutely, there is no restriction on starting threads in most of the forums. Just try to make sure you're not duplicating an existing thread, merely as a housekeeping measure.

Actually, this topic was started way BEFORE <VAULT> felt an urge to spam. I remember the name and post that got through. It was pretty bad for a forum of this level.
