I wasn't sure which forum area to stick this... So general it is...

I was reading the news on Betanews... like I do everyday... and I found this...
http://www.betanews.com/article/Xbox_Takes_Game_Development_to_the_Masses/1165871129
Microsoft has made good on its promise to deliver to enthusiasts a basic development platform for aspiring game makers to produce their own games for the Xbox 360 system. In addition, it launched tools on Xbox Live that it hopes would make the process as easy as possible.

And this also caugt my eye...
Microsoft says this is a boon for the industry - providing developers with a development option that does not require a large initial investment. While the application itself is free

If I understood that correctly... it's some form of Development environment... for game developers to bring their own little games to the 360... I could be wrong... But It wouldn't be the first time...

Here's a link to the download...
http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/Microsoft_XNA_Game_Studio_Express/1156955398/1
Which also tell me it's not free... it's also not finished.... It's a development Umm... Studio for windows... and if you purchase this so called "XNA Creators Club subscription" then it also includes the XBOX 360... Well maybe the door isn't as open as I thought... It's hinge is frozen... and you need a little WD-40 to open it...

Here's the Main Website if anyone feels like reading...

Sounds cool, but I bet it will be very, very hard. I made levels for an fps game called Orbz, which involved lots of different confuing things, and I can't imagine making a whole 3D game with game making tools right on a system...

I believe I remember Mike talking about this not long ago. From what I understand, it's a bit of a Mephistophelean bargain. If this is the same thing he was talking about, yes, you can use their software and development information, and yes, it makes it easier to get a game out on the platform, but Microsoft ends up owning your game, every thought you've ever had about your game, you, your soul, and your grandmother's china.
