Does anyone here on this forum watch anime?
I'm a big fan of it, and was wondering what other people here thought of it.

There are only three anime series I say are worth watching:

1. Outlaw Star
2. Lupin III
3. The Littl' Bits (obviously)

All the other ones I can take or leave... Usually leave. My brother's trying to get me into Fullmetal Alchemist, but I haven't watched very much of it. Still trying to give it a chance.

Meh, you must have not seen very many animes.
There are tons of diffferent varieties, from comedies to romances to horror shows to adventure.
But of course, we all have our own opinions.
A lot of people I know only like certain types of anime, like the war and ninja style ones.

Anime is Japanese for cartoon. That's all.

I believe it's also short for animation, just with an e.

I prefer anime over most american cartoons, except for, maybe, the Simpsons, American Dad, and Family Guy. Those are some funny shows.:)

And yes, often in anime, someone will have wierd pointy hair. Personally I like it better when the animators try and make it look more normal.:rolleyes:
I hate it when the characters have really long pointy heads, but I like the big eyes.
Now, if the eyes are too big, i.e. filling up the whole head, then it looks a bit odd, and more little-kid-ish. If the eyes are done right though, it can make for some very pretty or cool-looking characters.;)

The big eyes/faces are to show facial expressions more accurately. The big hair is just to look cool :)

My wife and I are Inuyasha fans. I don't know if you'd consider that anime or not. Some people are pretty purist about it. :)

I used to love Shonen Jump/Graphic Novels until they had to go and make TV shows and more than 1/2 of them...Ruroni Kenshin (sorry for spelling) is an awesome book series but the show isn't that good.

Some anime is fine, just like some cartoons are fine, and some non-animated shows are fine. Of anime though, I actually like FLCL and Full Metal Alchemist. As for Naruto (the one everyone seems to talk about now), I really don't like (and some others, but I don't recall any names). I saw some of the Japanese Naruto with subtitles, and I didn't really like it. Then I saw the actual English show... No. Just no. FLCL and FMA are awesome, though.

They aren't all serious... For example, there's Shin-chan on Adult Swim and Samurai Pizza Cats... Though both of those have had 99% of the script changed by the English writers. I mean, they're still funny shows in Japanese (intended to be anyway, it's not like I've actually seen them or would be able to understand them) but I guess they Americanized the jokes.

I watch a lot of anime, and I download it off the internet. I have about 50 GB of it at the moment. Right now I'm watching Meitantei Conan. Translation: Detective Conan. English Dub: Case Closed. I hate dubs though.

Bah, dub hatin'. The thing I've learned recently is that every dub usually has advantages and disadvantages over another dub. Learning a second language and watching the same show in both languages makes that apparent.

Seriously, though. I used to LOVE anime, Bleach, One Piece, Death Note, FLCL, etc. Once I started to read manga more (anime comes from manga; unless it is a straight to anime series) I saw that most anime are riddled with fillers that take away from the story. I'm content with my weekly manga release. 15-20 pages of One Piece, who can complain?

That's because you don't see through what they see. Bleach is actually a very moralistic based anime. You have to read in between the lines actually.

Anyway, it's also based on Freud's theory of the human psyche. Id, Ego and Superego.
Hollows being the id, humans the ego and shinigami the superego.

Why did the Hueco Mundo part mess it up for you? I hear it a lot! Mostly people say that because Ichigo is basically God-like with power...

No way! Ichigo gets THRASHED. He kicks major *** at first, takin' out one of the previous Espada members (his name escapes me), then crushing Grimmjow. However, he then gets beaten up by the 5th ranking Espada, only to be saved by Nell (who turns out to be the 3rd rank). Nell reverts to chibi and gets crushed, Ichigo's arm is snapped and Kenpachi as well as a handful of other Captains from Soul Society fall from the sky and begin to destroy the remaining Espada. This raises the question, if they're so **** powerful (the captains) why was Ichigo able to beat them before he was a Vizard if he's unable to destroy Arrancar while Vizard?

I was disheartend when a) Isshin didn't come to save Ichigo, b) the Vizard didn't come and start breaking faces.

I mean, I gave up on the anime 'bout a year ago now. I just read the weekly scanslations. I saw a girl in my computer class watchin' Bleach on youtube, so I told her never to watch it again and instead read Hunter x Hunter.
