People discussed how random mass driver is, how random is golden bullet? This could just be an illusion, but it seems that it goes in a pattern. I fired it once, and it went past the tank, and the next time I fired it, it landed in front. This pattern seemed to be continuous, so ajdusted my aim to this pattern, and it started hitting the tank. Is this a pattern, or am I just stupid?

I think it's supposed to be random, but you'd have to ask Brian to know for sure.

You're just stupid. You know absolutely nothing about Pocket Tanks, and could never win a game, especially when you just got beat 3000 to 200!

you only beat me because you got the spinner, had first fire, and we were on flat terrain!

Saint Wacko

Spinner part is true, but I also had a Crater Maker and Earth mover, and first move really didn't matter.

PS: turn on ur private message thing so you can recieve private messages

Ummm...I got confused. When I first said "I can see easily which one is more...hyper..." I was thinking that you were more hyper, Wacko, because you use more CAPS and stuff.

I'll put it back together. I think it's random. (the golden bullet)

I really don't know, but when antiderivative adjusts his aim to compensate, it usually works.

Yeah I think I've noticed also that it's either to short, to far or just right. I think it either increases or decreases by 10 or doesn't change at all when you shoot it. Mabey using the Rnd command to say like when you use it it will randomly either choose to fire it at 10 less that your current power, 10 more or not change at all.

Ya but what Anti means is that one time it hits maybe 10 more, the next time it hits 10 less, the time after that it hits 10 more, and it follows that pattern. That is what he is asking.

I'm not sure. I'll check on that.

Mike says that it is supposed to be completely random. And I've seen on my computer pretty much confirmation of it...no pattern to speak of. Either way, the random number generation in the new update is completely different, so if for some reason you're having a pattern, the update should take care of it.

I just learned at school that the command for a random action in Visual Basic.NET is Rnd(name)

Was It Me?
11-22-2006, 10:17 PM
Ah, but you have to remember to seed the random number generator first or you will get the same "random" numbers every time... :P

Everlast
11-22-2006, 10:23 PM
Well yeah, you have to choose where the command will gets its random values and where they should end up. After that it won't be the same thing everytime. It will be the same values you choose but in random order, or if you assigned boxes that have the values, everytime you run the program the box won't be the same thing everytime.

Was It Me?

That was rather confusing for how simple the function actually is to use. ;)

All the Rnd() function does is generates a pseudorandom (that is, "fake" random) decimal number between 0.0 and 1.0 (and passes the result back to the caller)... :)

If you want the function to not return the same set of "random" numbers every time, you just have to "seed" the random number generator with a changing value. In Visual Basic, this is done by using the Randomize command at the begining of the program. The Randomize command uses the system clock's current value as the "seed". That way, you will virtually never get the same set of random numbers.

...I have no clue what's going on right now...

cin >> "I'm confused!!!";
cout << "I know you are";
cin >> "who are you???";
cout >> "I don't know,,,";

return 0

You meant "return 0"... :P

Anyway, I'm getting off topic... :)
