Orb emitting swirls of rays?

Ok in the Purple Zone I see these orbs emitting swirls of rays, and when I destroyed it I got about 1250 points. Are those things an enemy, because I didn't see it in the Enemy list. I doesn't do any damage to you and it dissapears after a while.......so what are they?

black holes.
They are mostly a distraction, which is dangerous since it tends to draw in fire from your ship.

If you leave them for a while they gradually start to create enemies faster and faster till they explode. :)

But you can destroy them and get a lot of points.

there alittle harder to kill than everything else.
