Yes, a parrallel to the Weapons Guide by Minmay, i have desided to compile all glitches, fixed and not, in the wonderful game of Pocket Tanks.


also, this thread depends on YOU, the reader, so i would appreciate all additions. so that way, there are no more "lookit this happy fun glitch!!!!!!!!111!!!!!1one"


all have videos as downloads (except for exctinct ones) in the form of smilies. For those using 56K (As I used to…I know your pain.) i have enclosed descriptions that are as exact as i can make them.



Spinner Glitch (Zwaken): :D (http://www.mediafire.com/?gmn5jnu4abn)

Ahhh, infamous as it is, it still raises questions.

This is how it works: move yourself about halfway through your opponent, and aim under their treads. RIGHT under their treads. Oh, and you have to be at the bottom of the screen.



Numerous Nanobots (blue_moon): :D (http://www.mediafire.com/?jyztmn1ndjh)

Get close to your opponent. Like, a little less than spinner close. Aim your turret at the tip of theirs, and fire. You get around 6-7 more nanobots than usual.

The reason is unknown.



Lob-O-Matic’s parabolic 90 (Various Members): :D (http://www.mediafire.com/?yzy1bmf5bw5)

The Lob-O-Matic is an odd weapon, but an old favorite when it comes to line of sight warfare. This glitch was accidently discovered when combining short distance, 90 degrees, and it’s ludicrous effect.

When shot at 90 degrees, any power, the Lob-O-Matic seems, at first, to be taking an invisible elevator up. But at a certain point, it breaks the event…and curves to the right. No matter where your enemy is, it always curves to the right.

What happens when you get an infamous glitch of a shooting weapon?

Another.

Very short after the craze of the lob-o-matic, the sprinkler came under close inspection.

In v 1.0, it was brought to the attention of many that sprinkler, at 90 angle, 30 power, triple jumps in mid-air. This was not to much an issue to fix for mike.

But still today, a ghost of the glitch remains. If you shoot at 90 angle, 20 power, the bullet makes a small, almost unnoticeable jump in midair. A small tribute to the once infamous glitch.



The Forever Bee (Fixed) (Various Members):

In v.1.1, this bug was fixed. It involves the beehive (and sometimes other heatseeking weapons, although their bounces are usually bigger, resulting in them usually hitting ground) and a bouncy barrier.

When you plant a, let’s say bouncy wall, in front of your enemy, and shoot a beehive near enough, yet behind the wall, the bees do two natural things that conflict with each other: seek in, and bounce. Add these two volatile components together and you have a loop that never stops. (Mike added an expiration in v1.1. I have v1.3, so no video.)

To date, the most glitchiest weapon in the game.

1st: it can explode at any second. ANY second. (On 1st and 2nd video)

2nd: it shifts powers at certain seconds, namely 7 (On 1st video)

3rd: odd antics in the air, including a mid-air hop and pixel shifts back and forth (Both on 2nd video)

4th: can explode twice, namely at the exact time it is shifting between two times. EXACTLY. (Not on video)

For some reason, cauldron is capable of making a double, or triple, explosion also.

To see this to full effects, watch the video. The first shot, you can see it is massing a max of 33 damage per step. The second shot is normal, which masses a max of 11 damage per step.

To achieve this, you have to shoot literally RIGHT beneath their tank underground, without actually hitting them. The further away it is from the bottom, the less. As you can see, the window is pretty small even for a double. Extremely small for a triple.

Well, the three bullets almost never get too close together, and you all know of course that gyro glue in a pit is awesome.

But why is this a glitch?

Well, I really can’t explain it any better than the video does.

Basically, you need to get in really confined spaces, and watch as your computer lags, no matter how good it is, and you can get up to 300 damage per step. Really, you need to see the video to see how confined I mean. Dial-up people, sorry.



Bouncing Saucer Attacks (Doomedrusher): :D (http://www.mediafire.com/?ymezmymurjg)

Well, to my knowledge, bubble wrap is the only bouncy weapon that does this.

Put yourself in the air. Any way possible. Then, start bubble-wrapping yourself, while the other tank always shoots saucer attack. Notice anything?

The right saucer and the right saucer only, will bounce if it hits the bubble wrap before releasing its payload. If either of the saucers have released their lazurs o’ doom, when they are moving up, they will bounce away.

This is a major glitch, as it can actually be used in a real game with full intention. But, it hinders, because if the left saucer hits your bubble wrap, you might get 100-or so damage.



Hot Potato 180+ (Various Members): :D (http://www.mediafire.com/?lmmwylvx3l7)

Well, no bounce = 10, 1 bounce = 20, 2 bounces = 30, 3 bounces = 40, and 4 bounces = 50.

So how do you get 180 or more?

Well, for one, you both have to be at the bottom of the screen. And you want to aim for right underneath their treads. After that, just shoot and see the points rise.



Mass Driver Bounce (Numerous Members): :D (http://www.mediafire.com/?29nuntx41q1)

“Of course it doesn't bounce!! It's a meteor launched from orbit with greater explosive force than a thermonuclear weapon. Bouncy dirt is...well...rubber!”

The words of the moderators. Pure and unleaded.

So why are there many reports of it bouncing?

Because it does. Not straight up, but at an angle, mass driver will indeed bounce sideways. The physics behind this phenomenon is completely off the norm, but funny to watch. And watch indeed you shall, in the video.



Grab Bag; Dread, Delay, or Dud?: :D (http://www.mediafire.com/?tp0w1mtg9mz)

Grab Bag is a pretty good weapon, as you normally can do some ok damage, although it’s not a really good combo weapon as you never know what you’ll get.

Grab Bag has more than one glitch to it, though. Some worth it, some horribly, horribly wrong.

The way Grab Bag works is by cycling every few seconds it is in the air through a list of weapons. When it is just shifting through weapons though, it takes steps, depending on the shift. Some weapon shifts create a theoretical “second” grab bag that creates a different explosion. Yet others destroy the bag in mid-air, and then quickly spawn a different bag. Using the physics of this weapon, you can effectively get a dud Grab Bag (Me), or a Grab bag that explodes twice (not on video) (Numerous Members).

Another problem with the grab bag is its odd behavior of delaying the explosion (th155) and creating an explosion slightly shifted to the sides (not on video) (Various Members).



Mudslide…not sliding? Oh, wait, never mind…: :D (http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=dd1e42d76d97b25b1686155677bb268550baf591 b96160c7)

Mudslide: when it breaks the ground, it causes lots of mini dirtballs to slide and bounce around. So, what happens when it flies off the screen?

Common sense suggests that the bomb detonates right then and there. But common sense is wrong, in this case.

After the bullet leaves the field, you might be wondering; where are the dirtballs? They have not appeared yet, but the will, be sure, they will. The bullet, instead of detonating when breaking the surface, waits until it reenters the screen to detonate!

Colors. Fun, aren’t they? The sky is blue, the grass is green…and your impending doom is black and white.

People have always wanted more colors. So, how to get them? Well, cheat engine is one way, and it offers more colors, but it is hard to learn and those colors hurt your computer.

An easier way to do it is just open up the PT.CFG file in the my games folder, and edit the value to either 1 or 0. Sure, it’s less options, but at least it won’t crash your computer!



STOP FOLLOWING MY ELEVATOR!!! (Flankattack)::D (http://www.mediafire.com/?0mycevlnhyy)

Pretty much, the name explains all. You are on a leisurely stroll in a tall (invisible) building, when you get the feeling someone’s following you. So you take the elevator. And you get the feeling someone’s taking the next elevator.

To apply this glitch, you have to have two not-too-hard-to-accomplish variables: a guy with an elevator, and someone within 10 pixels of the very same x-axis. Just use the elevator, and the other guy takes a ride. Why?

Because elevator works by raising all tanks on the x-axis. Simple and sweet.

If you put ALL the proximity glitches in here, you'll have a lot of writing ahead of you, and people probably won't enjoy reading it. I'd suggest just having the unique ones like Gyro Glue. (But then again, you were probably already going to do that, weren't you?)

EDIT: what do you mean? i just downloaded it onto the school computer fine, and it works like a charm.

all the links are good, as far as i can see. mabey your computer is messed up?

and easy was to get a really deep pit to screw around in is to get onto a COMPLETELY flat area (the top of cliffs, etc.) and shoot the streamers @ 0 power. it'll leave a nice, small, and deep pit to screw around with.

Zero Power/Angle 180° or 0°

i play medium wind. it can reach from 0-60, so it has the most variability. therefor, it is harder.

but only if variability is per shot or random.

High wind has the most variability, going from -100 to 100, and yes, it does include every number between those two (the chance of such a very low number, however, is quite low, you'll be hard pressed to get anything below 10 - but it DOES happen).

If you spell it like that, it would have to be Lead Luftballon. I don't think wind really affects Lead Balloon's usability all that much; if it's blowing against you, it's not helping.

You can also get the massive points from Hot Potato if it hits the barrel of the enemy tank at high speed (difficult to do on purpose).

Here is anouther glich i fired fireball, it bounced 3 times without hitting the the opponent and when it hit the opponent i got 34 points and it had only bounced 3 times so i should of gotton 50 but about 10 miliseconds later different numbers appered, none of them above 25, WHAT HAPPEND!!!?:confused::confused:

You lagged. Fireball does damage to the enemy tank if it bounces near it, up to 25 per bounce. The fireball explosion does 50.

well, i've never seen this in my life. perhaps your computer did lag. if that happens bad, sometimes the computer doesn't heed what happens while it was lagging.

NO it was not lagging, computer was doing the normal 7 mspf and it went up to 10 when it hit so normal

BTW when i tried it i didn't warp but i was in multon plastic and after 3 bounces it disserpeard and only the napham was seen again...

Was playing a few minutes ago and fire Streamers at close range when this happened...

That blue line you see there is about 15 or 20 streamers bouncing up and down. There`s so many it looked like a solid blue line the entire time. (While playing. Not just in the picture.)
They eventually all did their usual explode/pop thing and made a vertical tunnel down to the bottom.

All those numbers are from the other streamers that hit. The ones that didn`t just bounced at 90 degrees for a good 6 or 7 seconds.

I just got a mass driver to do nothing when it toug\ched the ground, there was a good 1 inch of bouncy dirt and the mass driver hit it and just stood there for 30 seconds then exploded so it is not the fact that there is bouncy dirt that make mass driver bounce, it is the amount of dirt.

I got that streamer glitch to.

EDIT: i just fired a fireball at some dirt and it disserpeard, not even a trace left after the usual 11 bounce exploction

well the cpu used a superstar and two of the three stars exploded early o my tank. but the one that was left and a invisible ghost were firing at me and when the one that was left exploded the other one kept firing at me untill it hit the bottom of the stageand did not explode but made a sound like somthing going off bouncey dirt

the cpu won 1633 to 358

Super Elevator?

I was messing with the new weapons as you can see and this is the result of one of my elevators.

There should be. It's created whenever you start the game if it's not there.
What version do you have?
For 1.2 or below:
In the same folder as the pockettanks.exe and ptloader.exe.
For 1.3:
In the Pocket Tanks (Deluxe) folder in My Documents>My Games

I think I posted the reason behind the lob -o-matic glitch long ago, but I will post it again.

As the bullet approaches it's highest point (due to the power, so the point where any other weapon (like sniper or single shot, not prox) fired under same conditions would stop ascending and begin falling), it slows down like any other (non prox or lazer firing type) weapon. However, the spawned bullets (from now on calling spawns) continue to come out of the main bullet at a rate of "x" per second (sorry, ask Brian). Once it slows down enough, the spawns will start to stack on top of one another causing the main bullet to rise further. The games physics cause this not to stack perfectly or just pulls down after a while (w/o wind), causing the curve and fall.

An easy fix would be to limit the number of bullets that can come out.

New Glitch (I think) sorry I didn't get a pic.

I had a grab bag. It hit a bumper. It spawned fission bomb. The fission bomb had twice to three times a many little bombs as usual.

What's the most points you can get from a potato? I can't seem to get over 60. And that's when it bounces about 7-8 times.

I have a new glitch (this time it is a NEW glitch), when both tanks are on each other blue tank used elevator. Next the red tank drove of the elevator and under the elevator. Blue tank uses elevator again and again. Whenever blue tank used elevator the red tank also got lifted up.

Not really a glitch, more like a game engine oversight. It adds velocity to a tank near a x-value.

So you're saying if the blue tank went half way up and the red tank was over the other side, the red tank could then drive under it and it would still be lifted up.

I'm saying that elevator pulls all tanks within a certain x-value upwards with certain velocity. Any and all tanks within that region will be lifted up.

I'm not sure exactly how it works, but elevator doesn't actually lift the tank up with jumper-like shots, I think it uses invisible bullets so it can check certain collisions that would be impossible otherwise.

Elevator has similar effect like Tractor Beam. That's why both tanks get lifted.

New glitch discovered with Time Bomb: when it bounces on glue (and loses a second), it will occasionally create an explosion - and then continue bouncing! This may or may not be related to the glitch where it explodes twice. (This may be exactly what you meant with that glitch, but you don't have it on video, so I'm not sure.)

When the hammer is above screen and strikes a tank with its lightning (while still above screen) the hammer doesn't fall, instead it disappears.

Stay in the position like Nano Bots glitch, shoot the Fire Hose, you'll find there are actually 2 other hoses, total of 3.
Look carefully, the hose above is thicker than the lower one, 3 of them :D

That's-a no glitch. That's intended weapon behavior. Although you'd be hard pressed to find a practical use for it.

Fire Hose using three emitters is pretty obviously intentional, too, though to allow them to spray in wildly different directions when used at close range probably wasn't.

i don't know if this is discussed before..but..spinner can give more than 3000 points..all you need to do is get your nozzle in the opponents tank..like the pineapple glitch...

this not a glitch..but a kind of exploit..

I think i agree..but do we see three emiters due to its limitations in penetrating surfaces..like super laser limit of three surfaces..i think..??

and I've also noticed..the extra emmiters are not random..but at a selected angle..they also come out at selected angles..

Sorry for posting twice in a row..but i just found another glich...i was trying the elevator one..and..its fun to see the bottom tank lifted up...

i had both my tanks on same level of elevator...and..then..on the bottom of my floor of elevator..i put web..then with the other tank i used railgun..and then both tanks fall down...but the railgun instead of coming out of the nozzle...it keeps coming out from where it started...

@adder: thats just he nature of the weapon - it's supposed to collpase dirt around it.

@rohit: its cool to know you found the glitch by yourself, but the spinner glitch has been known about for 3 years now.

oh, and the reason for the second glitch you mentioned...

the engine works by launching bullets at the point of your turret - your turret isnt actually shooting it though. the bullets are simply spawning at the tip of the turret. now, if the turret moves, then it's not going to be placed on the same point of the playing map, but the spawning point will.

simply put - any weapon that can make you move away from the firing point before the bullets stop firing will have that effect. its an engine glitch, not a weapon glitch.

How do I get consistent hit from Mass Driver and Golden Bullet? Both seem hit or miss, no way to accurately set angle/speed to get same result every time.

Also, me and Blitz did some detail on the Streamers glitch. If you fire at an angle, they bounce.

Maximum tolerance before effect fails is 3 power.

The bounce isn't infinite, as we first theorized.

@Floccinaucinihilipilification - It was STREAMERS, not SPINNER. And yeah, no infinite bounces. Tried it later with CPU, max tolerance of 3. But behaviour can be erratic, depending on the ground. But it's so **** beautiful to look at. *Wipes away a tear.*

I knew about that one. Possibly those missiles from Quad Missile weapon act like a line of sight weapon before they home on to the tank. And you all know what happens to line of sight weapons when they "escape" from the screen. They don't come back.

Unfortunately, that is not the case. The way pocket tanks is designed, the actual gameplay area is quite a bit bigger then that which you can view, in vertical terms. Even if the weapon split at the top of the screen, there would be ample room for it to home in, if I remember the speed of them correctly.

This is just my theory, however, to explain why those weapons affected by gravity can function completely fine off screen. I highly doubt LOS weapons have their own system of disappearing, since it still takes time after one, such as laser, hits the top of the screen before the game switches player turns, it just relies on the fact that these weapons can do absolutely nothing when they reach that height.

When quad missiles split, they don't immediately home in. They drift out for a second. Essentially, they become slow, drifting LOS bullets for a second. Now, if a weapon is LOS, and leaves the screen, there is no way it could hit the tank ever, so the engine deletes it.

This isn't a glitch, as it is just the engine doing what it does. However, it IS faulty coding. But then again, if you think about it, there are no other ways to make weapons drift straight. So to make the weapon look nice like it does, you need to allow this coding fault for now. I'm sure mike will make an extra engine flag for deleting weapons off-screen later, though.

I'm going with AWP on this one. Even though Rex is right - the gameplay can well exceed the screen height, you must account for the fact that the tanks can't STAY anwhere above what can be seen. And if a LOS weapon goes off the screen, then there is no way or reason for it to come back, so the engine deletes it permanantly. If it didn't, you just sit there for 10-15 seconds waiting for it to hit the true end of the playing field, without knowing why because you can't see the true edge.

Confirming Ekoz's theory is correct. /strikethrough on my old post, if that was a installed command. Even at a speed of 2 power, a Phase Missile will immediately disappear on entering the top of the screen.

Well I'm betting it's not h4x, so I'm thinking a speck or patch of black terrain hit by an explosion that does not cause terrain-collapse. (For lack of a better description)
