What weapon do you think the AI is the most deadly with? I know most of the time they get dead-on shots, but for me I hate it when the AI gets a sniper, or a weapon like Wacky Tank ot Star Dust which screws you up.

Great Wall in your face. If you don't have a Well Digger or other powerful dirt-removing weapon, and he's ahead in points, then you are basically screwed...

I would have to say great wall also...for the same reasons ???revived mentioned.

well, for me, if my angle is wacked i just mirror their angle and power again so i can hit them.
also i have used jump jets and landed on the other tank who then shot a sniper rifle straight up and hit his barel not me. fun times huh?

The AI isn't programmed properly for line of sight weapons. It works fine with the ones that go through terrain (like X-Ray Cannon or Super Laser) but for those that don't (Bazooka, Laser, etc.) it just fires them so that they won't hit terrain - which unfortunately usually means it will shoot them straight up into the air.
You have to admit it's funny to watch them use Bazooka like that, though.

Sniper Rifle, Super Laser, any control screwer-upper, and Great Wall.
Really? I thought they'd fixed the line-of-sight thing.
only if it has a line of sight. if not, they just try to shoot it as close to you using their given angle without actually hitting ground. they also usually use a move backwards as well sometimes, not like that matters.

The AI doesn't know how to use laser, or gamma blaster, or... many other things. Just keep all the accuracy weapons away from it.

The AI does know how to use lasers from my experience. At least in V1.3. What version do you have?

1.3.

I think 1.3. When I last played with CPU-10 having a laser, the computer just fired it straight up. but if it has a line of sight, it fires it straight.

All lasers have LoS. Lasers that phase through dirt are actually aimed towards you and go through the dirt.
:P this will be fun. the kid who beats me in all logic known will bow before meh pocket tanks skillz.
LOS weapons that phase through dirt, such as phase missile, gamma blaster, and super laser, are all used correctly in v 1.2 and higher, while things like bazookas and regular lasers are fired upward.
Why? and what did the cpu do in the ealier versions?
because the CPU was originally programmed to use every weapon so it doesn't hit dirt prematurly, aka underground, unless it has no choice, this went for all LOS weapons. the problem with that was, some did go underground.
But now, i'm not sure exactly how, the cpu is programmed to recognize those certain weapons that not only are LOS, but any underground weapon.
but ekoz, what does this mean?
this means, if the cpu has a super laser, it recognizes the "signature" of the weapon. how it builds off that, i don't know. mabey it that assumes that the ground is not there, and that they are floating tanks. mabey its direction to not shoot at ground is temporarily disabled. who knows. all i know is, it knows to shoot directly underground, or a little bit under LOS, depending on the weapon. worm, anyone?
and for the weapons that are LOS but NOT underground, well, the cpu is also programmed to do one more thing: move. not that it usually helps, but they do what they can to attempt to get a LOS. and then they shoot at the closest angle they can without going too low that it hits the ground, and hope it hits.
and that was your daily explaination, brought to you by:

That was beautiful. That was the most wonderfully presented explanation for LoS and CPU AI code.
The easiest explanation for the CPU to determine whether or not the weapon is LoS is because I believe there is a LoS flag that tells the enemy to not aim through dirt, and use simple algebra to find the direction from one point on an (x,y) graph to another.
i can't tell if youre being sarcastic or not.

*Thinks* Mega nuke is bad even when the AI is 1... *Thinks Harder* I know! Super star. That is annoying as it can get.

Mud pie... Easily.

Mud Pie isn't so bad, nor any other dirt weapon. You just need to plan ahead. Get the dirt removing weapons. Mountain Mover or Digger are good, Earth Mover is great, Bulldozer is good. Alternatively, you can buff up on weapons that won't harm you underground (water weapons that don't do impact damage, and the like), and if there's a Solar Flare, take it. If you plan well enough and the weapon shop is providing, you may very well be able to spend half the game hidden safely underground while you rest comfortably with more points than the computer.
I still say it's a Great Wall. They always hit right at the front of your tank, so it ALWAYS nudges you backwards. Unless the wind is at exactly the right strength, there's no way you'll be able to shoot over it, and they'll get to curve shots nicely into you. And unless you have a mass of dirt moving weapons, you'll never knock it down. Your only hope is to get them with underground weapons (a very difficult pursuit that will only work in a few situations) and weapons like Saucer Attack (which don't do much damage).
I guess you could also try to go OVER the wall, but...

I laugh whenever the CPU gets a Lead Balloon. It completely misses and / or damages itself.

I'm going to have to agree with Doomedrusher on the dirt weapons... Mainly because I took out all the digging/terrain moving weapons, lol.
