above is my quicksand weapon ^_^ i was thinking it should be like sniper: need an exact hit to work, and it would sink your opponant to the bottom of the screen. ^_^ rate? i know the animation is a little crappy, but....
other weapon ideas: camouflauge (sp?)- turns your tank invisible for 1 turn
earth's core: sorta like quicksand but when they reach the bottom, a hole (non damaging) at the bottom where the tank is (the earth doesnt collapse) and a LONG stream of fire pours into it ^_^. i think that may be too powerful though since it buries them as well. maybe have a vell type thing shoot up afterwards?
will post more when i come up with more ^_^

its not a gif picture. if you save as .png they maintain their original size.

Man, that's an awesome weapon idea! (and quite evil :) ) Although the tank shouldn't go to the very bottom. But anyways, great idea!

i think it should go all the way down. because unless you dont have terrain on random, then a lot of the time, they wouldnt sink very far. and like somebody said, it is great to turn the tables on the person on high ground. i hope a staff member takes it up ^_^
has anyone else gotten their weapon idea made?

i don't think it should go to the bottom...i think it might be better with a max distence it could take them down...maybe half of what it shown on the pic attached to this topic...and if less then that amount of dirt is under them then they sink to the bottom....if you do it like it is now....the person stuck at the bottom is basically screwed unless they happen to have tunnel....

ya i agree that the move should be reasonable without major clearing moves a sink to the bottom of a giant cliff could take away hundrads of points

Also if the person had quicksand, tunnel, and was ahead, he could hit himself and basicle win...

I do that with digger at the very end if I'm winning. I shoot it down at a steep angle so they can't hit me. :)

sorry, havent remembered about this board. i used animation shop. which you can get a free 30 day trial and buy off ebay for about 5 dollars. what animation shop does is like a flip book or slide show. you put images into frames and play it. hard to explain. i guess "computer flipbook" describes it best. but i LOVE the program to death and recommend it to anyone who likes are, likes to draw, gets bored allot, or just loves to mess around with stuff.
if you buy from ebay (my recommendation as the producer sells it $60-70) it DOES come with paint shop pro 7 as well. so it is a 2 for one deal. best $5 i have ever spent. lol. if you guys want, i will post other things i have done with animation shop, but that will be straying off topic a bit.

OR...you could make the pictures in a picture making program, such as GIMP, and then save it, make a bunch of frames, put it in a movie maker (the one that comes with windows is windows movie maker. Not sure for mac though) and put the pics on the time line and shorten the frame length. After that, you can just convert the video file that plays it through out the whole thing. That's what I do.

Sounds great, but there would have to be some kind of backup weapon or something, to get you outa there, like teleport, move the tank back up to the top of the screen or something.

I don't know how much of a backup would be necessary. After all, the one who fired it wouldn't be able to hit him with much. And if you got hit with this and had a bunch of underground weapons, i.e. Groundhog, X-Ray, Gamma Blaster, Hot Foot...you'd be in a pretty sweet position. You might even fire it on yourself as a defensive measure. Nonetheless, I don't know how feasable it is.

If you want to make animated pictues it ALL depends on how big you want to get into it, If you want to go advanced, Adobe Photoshop CS2/CS1/8.0/7.0 would be good, although it's really expensive. For cheaper things you could use paintshop pro, or find something on google... Or if you really want to just have fun get a flash program, they cost about 400$ but if your a student you can get drastic discounts, i think wim told me that :P . Anyways, if you don't know how to make them search it on wikipedia, i've spend 90% of my readin all on that website.

so does that mean you like it?:D
i really hope it gets put into the next pack or two. that would be AWESOME!!!
does the staff usually take weapon suggestions and publish them into the game? or do they only use the ones the staff think of? i thought i remember seeing an old suggestion board or two suggesting a weapon that was in the game.
btw, as i said, i used animation shop. you make pictures and put them together in a video. im not THAT rich to afford all those expensive programs. lol.

or for a more free/easy solution you could make the images in a program of your choice and use UnFREEz (http://www.whitsoftdev.com/unfreez/) to animate it - sure its not the most professional solution but no one can tell, and its completely free and doesnt leave one of those dumb logos in the corner or a watermark or anything...also has the option of whether to loop the animation, and the fps...

take a basic picture using the print screen key and save it as your base for the movie, then take a program like paint and zoom in to 800% (400% will do) and do pixel by pixel art for each frame that you want for the movie save each one and put em in order.

Nice animation. I just posted some weapon ideas and "Quicksand" was one I was thinking about, since I love the movie Krull.
Tractor Beam would compliment your idea, as it can lift a buried tank out of the ground and drop it back on the surface in one foul swoop, depending on the depth.

one tiny disadvantage. if you sink and you dont have digging weapons, its a waste of time for both of you trying to dig yourself out to actually fight

Couldn't they use a % to make it? Like a 50% into dirt weapon. Like it would bring you to half way into the dirt in that terrain. But on other areas it put them to bottom?
snipes88
08-16-2007, 09:46 PM
very good idea...but dont you think all the way to the bottom is a bit brutal? I mean I play with explosions small and that would take quite a few BIG weapons to get out...

kinda just repeated Nonnag, sry about that...thats what I get for reading the 1st page only
