View Full Version : Facebook APP?????
I use Facebook every day as do a lot of my friends. I really think that Pocket Tanks has a lot of potential to become a popular Facebook application. It would really give Blitwise and Pocket Tanks a lot of PR points. The Jedi vs. Sith app is pretty cool and I think Pocket Tanks could mirror the game play and format. Maybe winning Pocket Tanks expansion packs would be an incentive for obtaining the "King of the Mountain" score? The other Facebook app "Sportsbets" allow's you to turn in your virtual winnings for real merchandise. It's a good concept. Pocket Tanks can learn from this.
Who agrees and what should the Pocket Tanks Facebook application look like?

I don't agree, as first it would be free. There would be no profit and wouldn't be worth Blitwise's time. Second, it's a whole new language. It would take a year to learn and a year to make.

It's like myspace, but has some slight differences. Same concept, I would assume though.

Nope. There's not much in it for lots of us. There aren't that many people active enough to use it either way.

2. Don't charge money

PC is good how it is. But WII would be cool:rolleyes:
Pocket Tanks on the Wii would be cool.
In answer to the others regarding not making any money....
Seriously? Is that the scope of your vision? Have none of you ever taken an economics class?
First of all, an app on Facebook would generate more exposure than Blitwise could ever accomplish with freeware offerings and T-shirts. Secondly, YOU MAKE MONEY FROM THE ADVERTISING!!! That is how the other apps make their cash. Check them out. The money-making apps have sponsors that pay them to be part of the app. For instance, the app "Sports Bets" is a virtual gambling app where users bet virtual chips that they initially earned by a) signing up friends b) coming back every day c) signing up for sponsor's offerings (e.g. Blockbuster Online). By doing any number of these the user earns virtual chips to play. After a few bets you no longer need to do any of these, but the money has already been earned by the application designers.
Finally, the language would not take a year to learn. Go to Facebook and they provide the tools for anyone interested in starting an app... they will get their small slice of the pie, of course.
The point is that it will generate much more exposure for Pocket Tanks. Some apps have over a million members. Do the math. It's a good scenario.

Exposure wise, sure it might be good. But it's talk about advertising like this that turns me off, personally. I just don't think it's the way Mike likes doing things.

I can understand that.
It's also hard to hate ads and then be involved with ads.

The only "good" ads left are the Superbowl ads. I like the ads more than the actual game.
