It seems Wikipedia is popular to everyone except teachers. Most all of my teachers at school say Wikipedia is bad because anyone can edit it, but I say it's good because everyone can edit it. It makes it so the website is updated almost immediatly when anything happens, world wide. But still my teachers don't like it.
Samail
02-19-2007, 06:18 AM
Ya I know. I also read on the Wii News Channel that a college (can't remember the name) has now banned the use of Wikipedia for reasearch papers. They say it's a good place to start, but unacceptable to end research. I do see their point though. But I still like the Wikipedia. (Some of my teachers actually encourage it's use.)
[Hmm. This thread is getting more and more off topic, and less and less random. :D]

Well... Most of the teachers in my school haven't heard of wikipedia, and I'd bet a few of them haven't heard of the great series of tubes known as the internets. But you can't expect much more when you live in Hillbillyland, Tennessee.
I think I really live in an interesting town. It isn't much, but the people who've lived here their whole life take so much pride in it. It's kind of charming. All the other people just seem so... Out of place. If you don't originally come from this town, then you're probably too good for it. If you've lived here your whole life, it's just right. Most people don't plan to live here their whole life... But you can immediately identify the ones who aspire for nothing more.

I think that feature's been around for a while, unless they took it out for XP. I know my brothers did that several times with our old computer that used 3.1 or 95. For a while it was the Miami Dolphins' theme song, then at some point it was a song from the Lion King. :D Hey, it was the 90s and we were kids.

Yeah, you can still do it on XP. I did. IT ROCKS! When it starts up, it says: "Mom and or Dad, get off the computer. Now.", when I shut down, my computer yells: "NOOO, DON'T KILL ME!!!" and when I double-click, instead of making a tiny beep nobody notices, um, I found a website that you can download some one farting for .5 seconds so I used that.

I had this really freaky dream last night... It felt like some kind of a psychological thriller/horror movie. It was probably the most intelligent-sounding dream I've ever had.
It was really long, but the freakiness started with me standing at my back door one evening. Some guy let me inside, and there was evidently some kind of high-class party going on, with people in tuxedos and everything. Now for some reason, this guy said something totally weird to me. He says "Every person lives within their own individual reality. Some things that exist in one reality may not be there in another person's. Now when these two realities meet... The one in which something is not present will try to... Compensate."
At that point, one of the party guests started flashing white, somehow indicating that I could see him, but he was not present in my reality. At that point, everybody in the party vanished, and something appeared on my TV screen. The highlighted man appeared on there, and it looked as if his eyes and the contents of his mouth had been removed. At this point, I tried to close my eyes, but no matter what, I could still see him. I tried looking away, but the image was then projected onto the wall. After that, I saw many tiny golden pins beginning to protrude from a small jar, about the size of a can of film. I immediately believed it was a torture device, and I now wanted more than ever to look away. I knew that this device, covered with razor-sharp pins was going to be used as some kind of drill. but whatever I tried to do, as tightly as I squeezed my eyes shut, and as hard as I pressed my hands against my ears, I could see this man being tortured, and I could hear the horrible screams coming from him.
This is one of the freakiest things I've ever seen... Sometimes it scares me to see the capacity for horror possessed by my own mind, and I can't imagine what might have triggered something like this to appear in my head. I couldn't go back to sleep for several minutes.

I've considered it as a theory, but I don't necessarily believe it. I mean, if each person had their own individual reality, how could we be sure that there really are any other people in the world? Maybe the people you see are just part of your reality, and the fact is actually that you're the only human soul in existence.
It's stuff like this that keeps me up at night. Also stuff like what would happen if you blow out your birthday candles, and your wish is that one candle stays lit.

I've got about half that many files, but about an eighth that size. Unless you're saving a bunch of pictures that are too big to fit on a desktop, you could probably be saving some space with smaller file types.
Samail
02-21-2007, 11:23 PM
Yes, but certain file types work better under certain curcumstances than others. (And many of these pictures are off the internet, and if you save under a different file type, it will often bug up the color a bit. Look at my avatar very closely for an example. [may need to use paint and the magnifying glass. OK, so it's a bad example.)
I'm also too lazy to save all of that under different file types. I've got a 250 GB hard drive, so I'm not woried. (I need more RAM.)

Since it's on public radio, you know that nobody on that show is a sellout. They've gotta be doing it for the music, not the money. And the music's good. n_n I'll post a song in a minute.
Okay, listen to this:
http://media.putfile.com/Gonna-Get-Along
It's not any kind of uber-awesome l33t song, but I just think it's really good. Although this is still a modern show, everything has a mysterious kind of nostalgic feel to it. It's as if you've heard it all as a child, but you can't remember any of it. What's great is that this is public radio, so when I post a song, it isn't like I'm stealing money from anybody. If anything, I'm encouraging more people to tune in, listen, and perhaps donate to them. =)

Are WE all invisible? It's been stated several times that this isn't a "free post" thread where you just put any random sequence of words down. It's established as a topic to discuss whatever's on your mind. What does a sequence of random words contribute to the posterity of the board? Nobody benefits from that.
If you acknowledged this thread as one for discussion, then I guess you would have noticed the content of our posts, rather than being focused on submitting your own nonsensical input.

My old computer had 40 GB, but I added a second, 80 GB hard drive when I built my new computer. So... 120 GB total. It was getting really cluttered though, so I basically just saved some essential files and wiped both hard drives. As of this post, I have about 87 GB free. =) I'd have less if I actually bothered to reinstall have my games.
As for The Sheridan Stomp... I'm pretty sure it doesn't come from anything but A Prairie Home Companion. Wikipedia doesn't show any significant results. Absolutely nothing on Google when you look for "Sheridan Stomp"

Well... Movies take up a lot of space. People with bigger hard drives probably save lots of movies. Either that, or they play entirely too many computer games. Personally, I go to my brother for my movie needs. But his hard drive is even smaller than mine, so he just burns stuff to DVD and then deletes it from his drive.

Really? Then you MUST give this a try:
Your hard drive contains a circualr disk, just like a CD, except that it's thicker and made of metal I beleive. (They're called "platters" You hard drive spins this platter stupidly fast.
Now, take the cover off of your hard drive, and set it up outside of your computer. (may need a long cord.) Turn your computer on, and the plater will start moving up to speed.
Then, simply give the drive a nudge, and watch the fun! The platter will then go careening accross the room, destroying anything in it's path!
This is very fun if you put several platters into the drive at once.
For a demo, check this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yISqCAnROh8) out.
(By the way, this awesome activity is known as the "Disk Drop".) [2nd note: This can be a little dangerous if you're not careful.]

This is what I have in Golden Sun 2. I have every summon in the game including the most powerful one you can only get by using the tranfer method. You had to defeat Dulluhan (VERY HARD!!!). Dulluhan is like fighting two Star Magicans at the same time, with maby a Sentinal thrown in there. I have all the Dyns....Dhyns?......anyway, I have all those little animals. My character is up to like level 70, with over a 1200 hit points. I have the most powerful weapon you can get. I also have a complete atire of cursed armor. I have basically cleaned out the game. When I play it, (which is once in a blue moon) I just go to the arena, which usually ends up badly because I end up fighting boss after boss after boss. I think my record is surving a Sentinal and a Star Magican in a row, then after that came Dulluhan and he destroyed my whole party in one attack. :D

This May be a long post, but read it. It's funny.
WOW! I just wasted 1 and 1/2 hours of my life! On the Aqua Teen Hunger Force site, there's a game that's boring and long (1 and 1/2 hours long) and all you do is keep holding the right arrow (right is the only way you can move), jump about 5 times and kill an evil deformed brownie monster. The reason I played this? Becuase it said that if you beat it, you get to see a clip from the movie!!! I said "YES! MY ONLY WAY TO SEE PART OF THE MOVIE!!!" So I played for the 1 and 1/2 hours. There are instructions, and I'm glad I read them. At first, when I saw "teleport" as a move, I used it 5 minutes in. it warps you to the begining intead of further down. Then, I saw that Alt+F4 made you super jump. I tried this out before I even went anywhere, and guess what? It closes your browser. So then I decide to just do it the normal way, with only walk, jump, nunchuks and radioactive nunchuks (all of these ones were legit) So I keep walking and walking. AND WALKING. (all I did was jump over some rocks, jumped over a hole, and radioactive nunchucked an evil brownie fly monster clone) Until right now, 11:07. I reach the end and I'm very exited to see part of the movie early. And I saw a clip alright. But not the begging, the middle, or the spoiling end. I GET TO SEE THE CREDITS! Oh boy! So then I watch all of the credits to make sure they didn't put anything after the credits. NOTHING. NOTHING BUT CREDITS. If ya wana waste your time, there's no better way than to do that.

I think I'm starting to get bored with these forums. -_- It's mostly because there's too much talk and not enough discussion. Discussion would imply that each post will have some thought put into it, and contain something interesting, profound, and compelling. But talk doesn't necessarily require mental activity, doesn't necessarily have to be a sentence, and doesn't have to contribute anything to the forum's posterity.
So... I'm not going to be a moron and flame the whole board, then storm off in a tantrum, but I'll probably just be posting less. Still be updating the CYOA though. I wouldn't abandon something like that. =)

Yeah, mine does too. However, K and B are both symetrical on this forum in this font. So, any one know the other answer to 2?

Really? What skin do you have? I'm using "Blitwise Default" and the "B" is defiantly not symmetrical.

I use the Default of Default. The Original of Original. The First of First. The Chicken of Wing.
On this forum's default B, the top part is clearly smaller than the bottom.

The Bulletin 64 is crazy. Looks like the old old old computers.
On a side note v1.1 for the deluxe (which I finnally have now) is so nice because it can remember what screen size you set it to, now I don't have to hit F7 all the time after I start it.

I use the Default style. (Not to be confused with the grey one. That one's too plain and depressing.) My favorite is the Bulliten 64, but it's hard to read things. Too bad.

Oh and some other news, the state competition for BPA is this coming Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. I am very excited about it. I think I will do well, I came in second in city competition for the category I was in. If I do good enough in the state I will get to go to reginals which is in (I think) New York. so next Wednesday, you will find out if I made it or not! :)

Yeah, I know belligerent means war-like, but I couldn't find a better synonym for innapropriate. I was going with inaugural, but that would be gibberish in that spot. Plus, if he did put a comma there, there would be wars and a ban.

Anyway, I wanted to post and say that I took whoever-recommended-it's advice and started trying to write a full-blown story. I'd post what I have so far, but I'm afraid I'd look too self-centered, and most people probably don't care what I have to write at any rate. I could always PM it to somebody, but I don't want to go off flaunting what I've written, especially in such an early phase.

What kind of story?
I guess it'd be considered a fantasy story. It's about a secluded village in the forest, possibly some magic, other unexplained things. Right now I've only got about six paragraphs. The first three are outlining the setting, and the second three are providing a little background information on a couple of characters. The second three probably need more work though. I'm not totally satisfied with them. I test my satisfaction with a piece of writing by going back to read it the next day. If I can read it a second time a day later, and think it still sounds good, I can usually stick with it.
