I bet you have noticed this but when you pop in a game into a NES, SNES, N64, or a GameBoy of some sort the game sometimes doesn't work. There is no dust in it at all. You take it out and blow into it and for whatever reason when you pop it back in it works again! Thought I could make a discussion about that.

This is usually due to dust or grime or some sort of stuff on the contacts of either the cartridge, the system, or both.
As a matter of fact, when I got my NES from a friend of mine, it was having difficulty working. So I found a useful NES cleaning guide. There's scads of them out there. Some better than others.

We wound up taking it apart and cleaning the contacts of both the system and all the cartridges with a special contact cleaner that you spray on and used Q-tips.
Somehow, when we put it back together, games will not work if they are pressed down after being inserted. That's actually a good side effect. The circuitry gets worn out eventually from pressing the cartridges down all the time.
