View Full Version : Mass Driver bounces (with pictures)

Now, this is a bit complicated, so bear with me.

I started Target Practice, and covered the ground with Funnels. The first time I fired a Mass Driver didn't work very well (see massdriver1.jpg).

Whoops. I was then left with two half-funnels, one at each side. I just fired it again to see what would happen, and surprisingly, it hit the bouncy dirt-covered slope on the right and bounced (see massdriver2.jpg). How is this proof? Well, this is how.

The image massdriver3.jpg shows the explosion. Now if we extend the bouncy slope (shown by the rainbow lines), it passes through the centre of the blast radius. Projecting a line upwards bisects the radius into two equal halves, showing that the Mass Driver had indeed bounced and continued at the angle of the slope.

If you want to challenge my findings, I am willing to produce further evidence. :)

I don't really understand what's going on in photo three, it just looks like the mass driver came down and exploded.

I'm thinking about trying that. I'll have to look for a video recording tool first.

Okay, let's end this dispute once and for all. I managed to record a video of the Mass Driver bouncing.

I used HyperCam 2, because it's the only half-decent shareware one I could find... :D

That...was..........................sweet! I wasn't expecting it to bounce off the funnel! I was hoping that it would hit the molten plastic and go straight back up.

I just covered the whole area with molten plastic, then smoothed off the top. Then I used mass Driver and it's official. It can't bounce Straight back up. But it can bounce like the way it did in Neko's video. I am dissapointed how it can't just go back into space though.

Thanks, any way i just tried the bounce thing and mine it bounced but the direction changed like a half a mm and i could barly see it.

I tend to agree mostly but I still not sure I understand everything here.
