You can even have the source code to the games.

Its not only illegal to download payed software for free, but it is also illegal to give links, as well as distributing it.

Actually, all of those are open source. If I'm not mistaken, they are intentionally free.

Ban A Big Shot For One Dumb Question? Harsh...

Loofiloo

I think that's kinda common sense though. And it's pretty much every forum's policy... Except torrent sites and stuff.

what a nice way to support the blitwise staff. pirate their games!

really, getting them free is called ILLEGAL, bad, and mean.

Technicily, Downloading Pirate Games Is Perfectly Legal. I'm Not Saying It's Right, But It's Legal. Whats Illegal, Is Distributing The Software, It's The Guy Who Actualy Put It On The Net Wins Committing A Crime.

Not what teh movies say.

"YOU WOULDNT STEAL A HANDBAG...."

blue_moon

Yeah, all those anti-piracy commercials say it is illegal.
Its kind of like how on the GMC, people use tons of copyrighted stuff in their work. They make rumors of what is and isn't illegal. Like, you can use the sprites if they aren't exactly the same or if you don't sell it.

That was a little harsh, but oh well. The forums were also disrupted whenever he mentioned his weapons list. That got aggravating in a hurry.

feronat thought of me as probably his only real freind on this thread. and although he did reach a point where i almost snappped (and when i lose it, i lose it. i broke a half a kid's spine once), i must say he wasn't very bad after he learned how to handle himself here. it is a shame, though, that he asked that dumb question. i am not going to make fun of him in any way, but i will only say i am dissapointed in his turnout.

The Commercals Exaggerate, But If You've Read The FCC Guide Lines, You See That Only The DistributeR Is Legaly At Fault. Keep In Mind However, If You Use A File ShareIng Program, Unless You Tell It Otherwise, IT Will AUTOMATICALY SET EVERY FILE YOU DOWNLOADED INTO ITS SHARE FOLDER, MAKING YOU THE ILLEGAL DISTRIBUTER WITHOUT WARNING! And You Can Be Busted For That, So Before You Use One, Make Sure The Download And Share Folders Are Different. OoH... A Tangent...

This is not the first time he has requested free access to software. He was given an infraction about this in the past, and, as that is our bread and butter, I wasn't willing to give him a third strike to continue trying to steal from us on a messageboard that we pay for. :)

gotta love blatent people. i mean, if your going to ask for pirated software, dont post asking for it on THE SITE THAT MAKES THE GAME! its just plain stupid. everyone should know pirating games is illegal and immoral, but why be stupid enough to ask on the site that actually makes them?
=.=

So when Comcast threatened to cancel our service for illegally downloading software, there was actually no law broken? Meaning they actually can't take any legal action?

matt198992
09-06-2007, 04:37 PM
lmao. both you AND the person distributing the illegal software are at fault. the company, if they find you have pirated their software, CAN take legal action against that person. i dont know what would make you think they couldnt. its just most pirated software is uploaded anonymousely (sp?) and/or just small things that companies usually wouldnt go to such lengths to go after.
for instance, if your found buying pirated dvd's off of someone (this has happened in my neighborhood) you WILL be arrested and fined for up to 5k dollars (i believe, every movie says so at the beginning). thats because you KNOWINGLY bought illegally created copywrite material. the commercials arent just for show. lol.

You most likely infringed upon the contract, is most likely says you can't download illegal software with their internet connection.

Yeah, not everyone is right. Like I said, some people tend to make up the laws so it seems that they are doing something perfectly legal.

Matt, If You Notice On Videos And DVD's They Say Do Not Make Unlawfull Reproductions, Not, Dont Gain From Illicit Sources, Also, Their Is No Way To Prove You Have Illicit Software, (Unless You Distribute It) And Like I Said, If You Dont Distribute, You Haven't Broken A Law. @LooFi, Some Companys Take A Strong Stance Against Piracy, And Use That "Terminate At Any Time" Clause In Your Contract Very Libraly. It Improves Thier PR. The Thing About Downloading Illicit Software Is That Whether Or Not The Person Downloading Is Doing It Illegaly Is Impossible. If They Bought It Already, And Then Broke Or Lost The Soft Ware, They've Done Nothing Wrong, Now If They Dont, Then The Downloading Is Wrong, However, Because No Distinction Of These Can Be Made In Cyber Space, No Laws Have Been Made, Because They Could Not Be Enforced.

Well, that ban was predictable. That's like asking the cops where to get beer when you're only 16 or something. You have to love the stupidity.

I think it's more like going into the bank and saying "Hey, what's the combination to the vault? I'm a little low on cash right now."

Yeah, people are stupid.
Feronat kinda deserved that. If someone provided a link, Blitwise would be responsible. Feronat also asked before. And he spammed the boards. And flamed.
