Ello all, Rex here!
I would like to tell Brian that this forum is awesome. Lots nifty things, very tidy. But I would like some enhancements.
1. I want the smileys to have a general blitwise theme, whatever that happens to be. You know, like maybe neo-tech type ones and stuff.
2. I want signatures to have IMG code in them. If so, just let IMG code be limited. I also want signatures to have more then 5 lines max. Heck, you cant even do two lines and a picture.
3. More fonts... all of the current ones are very boring.
4. A personal notepad in you Control Panel, to write things down for future use.
5. Change max avatar size to 120 x 120 pixels, which is fine.
6. I have seen a image scaler before on a forum, it scales images that are to large to fit the max size for a avatar. Only physical size, not KB.
7. Adds. Put some Google adds to your forum, and get more money. As long as they stay appropriate, I wouldn't mind one or two. Go farther then two and its a little overdone  .
8. A few of us (and those we talk to) wouldnt mind a spell checker of some desighn :/
That's enough for now, I will let you know if I remember/find out more annoying things.

The only thing I would want is more vB Code.

Spell checkers are all browser based. Other than that, this seems like a good list of stuff.

Well, some forums auto-correct commen mistakes. Repeats, lower case i and such.
Slade

Don't get adds unless, like you said, they are safe and appropriate.
Rex Nex
09-04-2007, 02:38 AM
Yes. Nice common forums are sometimes intertwined with messages with a zoomed in lady and "Dont Click Unless Your 18 " Adds.

If there were to be one thing I would want to change with the forums, it would be spoiler tags.
Everlast
09-04-2007, 04:26 AM
Definately spoiler tags.
blue_moon
09-04-2007, 12:09 PM
Then we could put ads in the spoiler tags.
Well, ads at the TOP of the page, between the search and profile buttons and above the forums.

Those sound like reasonable requests for the most part, though I don't think Mike wants to bring in ads. We'll see what can be done, after the updates we have planned are completed. After about a year, maybe it's time for a little face lift for the forum.

I don't think too much space in avatar/sig would be all that great. I've seen forums that confuse me with everyones sig dancing with stick figure fights & a huge avatar of someones face. I just want to focus on the posts. But I would love some more smileys!

The largest sig I've seen lagged my internet connection whenever it was in the browser window. It was a five megabyte animation. We don't want that, do we?
Rex Nex
09-05-2007, 01:50 AM
Not unlimeted. I said 120x120 and maybe up max size to... 100 kb instead of 50.
Samail
09-05-2007, 03:12 AM
I think the biggest issue is the attachment limit. I share Slade's pain. Just not as much of it. I don't attach a lot of pictures, or, anything really, but it's aggravating when nothing goes through.
It would also be nice for the bugs in the Bulliten 64 scheme to be fixed up.
Pyrobellum
09-05-2007, 04:37 PM
I think instead of 50 or 100, perhaps... >120? That's just the size I want for a gif I want as an avatar.
Rex Nex
09-05-2007, 08:41 PM
120x 120 is a good size.
blue_moon
09-05-2007, 09:23 PM
50x50 is too small. 120x120 is good.

09-05-2007, 09:42 PM
Here we go... I can't stand it when people want to up the limits to avatars or signatures... It just becomes messy... There are several forums I won't visit anymore because of this very situation...

Dude, 120 by 120 is like nothing. Its like adding that box at the bottem of the page saying what you MAY do to the end of every thread, its really nothing, but thats not the only thing I want to be fixed. If things go to wacky we can always go back.

I meant a larger kb size. I want an awesome lurker gif, but it's too large to be my avatar. :(. Not physical size, data size.
blue_moon
09-05-2007, 10:22 PM
I did try and get this animation as an avatar but it was too big. It ruined my summer vacation.
Rex Nex
09-06-2007, 01:05 AM
Well, then double the max file size, to fit the larger avvys.

I remember seeing a lurker in you're avatar once, that was amazing. They are, after all the coolest unit in starcraft. Can I have it? PLEEEAAASE?!??

120x120 is everything... It's clutter, and it takes longer to download a larger file... Not everyone in this world can afford broadband...

Ditto.
That was indeed a lurker gif, but about half of the animation had been cut out, and that's why it fit in my sig. Let my try to find them...
The Lurker I wanted (http://galeb.etf.bg.ac.yu/~cohadar/slike/lurker.gif)
Some random gif I found (http://usuarios.lycos.es/darktemplars/Gifs/0%20Lurker.gif)
Another lurker I found (http://www.yourcoolprofile.com/Images/Cool_Avatars_&_Small_Pics/Video_Games/Starcraft/images/Lurker's-Face.gif)
That last one is only 40 kb... maybe it's small enough.
Edit: Nope, "remote file is too large." Gah!

They're all the same but the last 2 are smaller.
Pyrobellum
09-07-2007, 04:00 AM
Actually, the first and last ones are the same, the first one is just bigger. The second one looks kind of like it's cracking its neck. The lurker I had as an avatar cut about half of the animation off of the first one. I can't find that one anymore though... :(

Anyway, whats a lurker?
biggman15
09-07-2007, 09:45 PM
It's a unit from an old video Game... known as Starcraft...
http://www.blizzard.com/broodwar/units/lurker.shtml
I beleive it was Game of the Year in 1999... That's not too old... but it is dated...
Everlast

Old games are sometimes more fun then current games. An example would be tetris, I could sit and play that for hours. :)
Of course, it depends on who you ask; Starcraft players are major celebrities in Korea. I wouldn't be surprised if North and South Korea ended up settling their differences with a 4v4 deathmatch on Big Game Hunters. ;)

Older Kirby games anyone?

Kirby and the Crystal Shards for N64 is pretty good. And I beat the game the real way. :D

That web page does not do the lurker justice. I'm putting a video up on youtube to explain the lurker's awesomeness. But youtube is processing slowly.
Bah! I will link the video in the morning.

@Everlast: The Tetris Effect (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetris_effect). I think I've had minor cases of it before. :) You?
@Zwaken: I have a near-complete Kirby collection. Though a few of the newer ones aren't there. I'm behind. Have you beaten his very first game on the Game Boy on Extra mode?
@Everlast again: I have 100% on Kirby 64. :D That includes every single enemy card as well.
I'm trying to complete my N64 collection... completely. Final stage and the two secret stages left for GoldenEye. (OO Agent difficulty.)
Back on sub-topic, the Lurker is one of my favorite Zerg units as well.
Wikipedia article on Zerg here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zerg_Lurker).

Hey, Youtube finished processing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zA511LOoAOE
Yes, I cheated a little. Lol. But that is why lurkers are cool.

Dark subdued themes for those of us who are of the night owl persuasion, all the bright things tend to hurt one's eyes late at night, eg, a light text on dark background/theme would be nice.
besides, dark things are also monitor friendly, lol

True, and not to bring another topic from the grave, but I need we need a little fixing on spelling... no wait. Grammar, capatalization is grammar.
@BlitWise: You guys say BlitWise in two ways, on the same page. BlitWise, and Blitwise. I noticed this on the main page: Blitwise Bulliten Board up top and Blitwise Message Board below that. Thats just one example, there are several little mistakes like that... not that it matters much...

Wrong type of improvement. That's improving people not the forum (in the manner that this thread was meant).
And while you talk about capitalization, look how you misused it Rex.
On Topic: It would be nice if Brian or another admin upgraded to vB 3.7.

Stuff like that has been said and fixed before.
I always capatalize unneeded stuff. No idea why, I do perpously.

Fixed the W issue on the front page. Also added some PT Avatars to the generic avatar list. Only 10 at the moment, because I have to do them 1 at a time, but I'll put more up as time permits if there is a desire for them.
Re: 3.7.3; spoke to Ben and Mike about this and other matters. The time intensive nature of the update and the limited time we have at our disposal being what it is, we're going to continue putting off the latest patch again, until time permits.
