Anybody here got a myspace? Feel free to add me: www.myspace.com/kmart00
(Just no stalking :D)
EDIT: And Zwaken, I already can assume your response to this thread... Don't say it... You've said it everytime I've logged into myspace on your computer lol.

In my opinion, its a waste of life, you make a page about whatever you like and it makes you feel good that a twenty year old dork wants you on their friends list.

Contradict: To say the opposite of something else. -a very old Websters dictionary I have on my computer desk.
Altered the definition a bit.
blue_moon
09-02-2007, 10:08 PM
It means one point in your sentence clashes with the other. Gay men won't be looking for girls.
Anyway, most comments are just them and their actual friends talking. Most of them have references to their conversation on AIM or MSN. They usually use both at the same time, for no reason except:
"Itz teh cewlnezz."

I don't see what's appealing about MySpace. If you want to have a friend list and everything, then get Messenger or some program like it...
If you want to get into personal details about your life, then you need to get out more...

Sure, there are comments. Stuff like "OMG HI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111" and "kool u hav myspaec now" and "lol." There's also a ton of stupid, moronic, idiotic, ridiculous, horrendously dumb bulletins that people post with unforgivable grammar and spelling, hundreds of times worse than a non-native English speaker who has been learning the language for a week, which tell about how if you forward this bulletin to 50 other people, your true love will kiss you on Saturday, but if you don't do it, then the ghost of some girl who was viciously murdered in your house is going to rise from the dead and kill you in your sleep with a rusty hacksaw. Then there's the blogs. Everybody thinks they're so cool for posting a blog about their everyday life or their miscellaneous thoughts... But they aren't. Nobody reads another person's blog. That's a fact of life. People also make crappy songs play whenever you visit their page. This is totally against your will, and is generally blaringly loud. In addition, people decorate their pages with obnoxious tiled background images of stupid crap, and they use a font that either gives you a seizure, is unreadable due to color conflicts, or both.
That's pretty much everything you ever wanted to know about myspace, and more. It's also why I haven't signed up for Facebook. Probably the exact same thing.

What about rants about certain stupidity? I know someone who dedicates his MSN Space to that. His "Blog of Great Ramblings". And many people review said ramblings, with intelligent things to say.
I agree that the majority of spaces are a waste of time and bandwidth, this being due to the majority of Earth's population being stupid, but there are a few out there that are worth it. Don't let idiocy ruin a good internet concept.
Heck, even Weird Al has a space.

That's another issue. Sometimes a band or a movie or some other kind of establishment just makes a myspace rather than making an actual web site, because they'd rather not hire somebody who knows what they're doing. Instead, they just get some cookie-cutter site that your grandma could make in five minutes for two reasons: It's convenient, and it's a popular site. Seriously, I've seen commercials where they should have a web site at the end such as www.product.com, but instead it's myspace.com/product.
P.S. Don't click that link. I don't know if it's real, but just in case it's something you don't want to visit..................

There's only one MySpace done correctly that I have ever seen... It has decent colors that don't cause your eyes to bleed and is actually possible to read, plus there isn't some extremely large picture in the background. I found only one. You are right about the fact bands have them. Most people in bands either don't want to pay for a website, too stupid to make one or don't think they need one. Oh, and Weird Al does have a website.

Weird Al has a space as well as the site.

You already said the part about weird al. I have a void MySpace. I made on saying I was an alien, and stuff... And I fought aliens and stuff... At least fifty people took me seriously, because my profile pic was the alien from predator vs alien.

Just to be annoying:
The alien is known as a xenomorph.
The movie is actually Alien VS Predator.:)
And I repeated the part just to point out that he has a site as well as a space, after you mentioned the site.
That's funny that people took that seriously. Though some of them may had just been playing along with it.

Yeah myspace is really overrun with terribly designed pages and rampant spammers (Tom: "but we're doing our best to fix it!") and obnoxious music that starts playing on page load (the worst thing you can do on a website) and I gave it up because of that too. Facebook is pretty good if you're in college and I like it a lot, but if you aren't in college it's pretty worthless.
Anyway, if anyone else actually uses Facebook, here's my link: http://www.facebook.com/p/Geoff_Whodey_Moss/12331009

meh. never really liked myspace myself. its just email with your own page design. its nothing special and a pain to keep up with. sadly, 99% of my school finds a way around the blocks they put on it everyday. its sad they have to go to such measures to get to a crappy website.
blue_moon
09-06-2007, 06:51 PM
Its funny, because the school I go to now actually has PEOPLE watching what site your on, so you can't dodge the block.
matt198992
09-06-2007, 07:04 PM
lmfao, im in comp. class atm and people are allready discussing how to get around it. its actually pretty simple; just use a free proxy. the problem is, when you use one here, it will be blocked in the next couple days.
you mean actual people watching over your shoulder while your on the computer? thats pretty messed up. our school's administrators dont have the brains (or focus) to do that. i have been to some bad schools, but this whole district is messed up =.= the only good thing they did was block myspace. its a waste of time and energy. so what, show someone some pictures of what you like or music clips, but email can do all that too. you just get a special page to put everything on on myspace. maybe thats why everyone likes it. the special page makes them feel special 0_o

Well, we don't have a computer class, but when we got to the next grade, I will be in computer science. I have an entire week of only computer stuff, and its advanced.
No, we don't have people watching over our shoulders. We are being monitored by an automatic program that detects if we are on a bad site. There also a group of people which track what sites we go on. They know what and what isn't a site that lets you do stuff. We can't even check our email. Which stinks, because I planned to send myself some platformer code for my computer class next year, as I THINK they blocked the GMC. Oh well. I guess I'll just have to 4GB USB it.
Samail
09-06-2007, 11:43 PM
We're tracked to a degree as well. Here you can use e-mail if you get permission from your teacher, as well as one of the two administrators in the school. I know them both, so that helps. But you have to use a Gaggle account or something...
I'm doing computer science again next semester. I want to actually learn something this time around. :)

As soon as you turn on the computer, the first thing you see once you log in is the desktop, which immediately sets the negative atmosphere of a computer that is anti-user. The wallpaper is a list in red text of things you can't do.
Did I mention they also disabled the right click? Yeah, the freaking right-click.
You also can't even play Solitaire...

Too much control is bad for a computer class. At least next year, I get to make my computer. Yeah. The Computer Science (every other week, 8 hours a day) shop has us make our computers. Then they divide us into what we want to do.
try anymous proxies like ftunnel. and if they've blocked those, try this, but don't get caught. this is grounds for permanet ban from the internet.
go to start/ run
type cmd, click ok
type ping websitename.com, or whatever it uses(.org, .net, .gov, ect. / www cannot be put in the name, or it won't work)
copy the number exactly into the url bar, and press enter.
you are now visiting the website over the ip. it's a passage you can't block by school standards, and it's hard to block by home standars unless the host blocks you or you have an expensive program. after doing this, you should close the cmd program immediatly.

Someone needs to give the librarians a bit of a course in computer/internet. Then at least they know what they're looking for, rather than relying on paranoid ignorance.
bye bye blue moon...
really? ping caught on that fast? whoa... this was the first year it was out in our school...i was one of the first to catch on to it.
our librarian calls the media center the "Mediar center". she's from a different country. it's true though. if it wasn't for the fact that she's married, i could swear she's in love with grolier. and if someone even mentions wikipedia, she straps fireworks to their backs, lights them, and throws them in forest. smokey woulden't be proud.

I think of "MySpace" as "MyCrap". It's called "MySpace" not "YourSpace". I don't have one because of the constant ad banners, people may lie about themselves, and my sister keeps urging me to get a MySpace. She has one and is extremely monitered by my parents. She has gotten in a lot of trouble before using MySpace by doing stuff against my parents' will. The closest thing I have to a MySpace is this forum, and I'm just fine with that.
