I don't have it. The new Metroid games don't really interest me that much. Is this one significantly better than Metroid Prime? That's the last one I played.

Personally, I'm a lot more interested in Bioshock right now. :D I tried the demo and I really want to get the full version now.

The originals aren't ALWAYS better. Oblivion is the best Elder Scrolls game, Age of Empires is getting progressively better, Diablo 2 is better than the first... Pikmin, Katamari Damacy, Timesplitters, Unreal Tournament... Plenty of game series have better sequels than originals.

Super Metroid on the SNES was definitely a good one. Though I still think that it's way too easy. I found an editor for the ROM, and changed a few things around to make it much harder.
Trivia! The final battle in Super Metroid is considered one of the greatest final battle scripts in gaming.

I haven't actually played it yet, because I still need to finish Prime 2. My brother bought Prime 3 on day 1. :D So I guess I'll be the one to get Smash Bros. Brawl when it's out this November. I'll give you the code when I get around to seeing what's actually there.

The most amount of action games on a console cannot be determined. Of course the wii doesn't have the most action games, but it doesn't mean you can't play them in the most actiony way. When playing one of the metroid games, don't just sit down. Leap across the room doing those flying sideways while shooting movements... Then bang your head on the coffee table and knock your brains out.

the wii is considered as the lowest-grade console by most gamers because of all the crappy minigames out for it. like warrio, brain age, and manmanymany more. i can beat all those in a day. i literally beat wario ware for wii in 2 hours. i thank god i only rented that game.

anyway, for those that see the xbox at the top, it wont be there for long. super smash brothers is a HUGELY anticipated game and is comming out next month. it's gonna put up a fight against halo 3. sure, i like action games and the wii has very few of them, but nintendo has only recently tapped into the wii's potential.

3rd party game developers were weary at first of investing too much into the wii because of the gamecube's huge failure. but more and more companies are investing into the wii. its perfect for FPS with the wii remote and the zapper comming out.

just dont think the wii is out compared to ps3 and xbox. it will probably stay in 2nd place with ps3 at top and xbox below. just my guess.

btw, dont judge something until you have tried it.

The way I see it, from personal opinion, reviews, and polls on extremely visited and official sites, Wii is on top, followed by 360, with PS3 on the bottom. Why? Because Sony screwed up big time. People simply find the Wii more fun, and more cost efficient. The numbers are there, the results are in. Nintendo wins the next gen war. There you go.

I have heard a lot about each one. I can't really say the PS3 is bad, because I have never played one. But one of my friends recently bought one, and he says it is a lot better than his Xbox 360. He says he loves the free online gaming. And plus you have to consider Microsoft's screw up with the 3 red light's error, and the disc read error. Sure Sony has problems also, but hundreds of there customers aren't getting them every day. The Nintendo Wii is just a cheaper console that offers fun for the whole family. My neighbors bought a Wii a while back just because they had there grand kids over a lot, and even the grandma plays with them. :)

The thing that is not good about the XBOX360 and PS3 is that they are just graphically enhanced, and sony added a hard drive... The wii is a new system. Nintendo would consider the PS3 and XBOX360 (if made by them) XBox SP and PS2 SP. Like the GBA SP, it had an improved light and a bigger screen, but wasn't an entirely new console.

That's not the only thing they did. Microsoft added a hard drive, they added free game demo's you can download like Geomatry Wars. The dashboard got a super upgrade. They made it look better. They added usb ports, and an HDMI port on the elite. They also have a fan attachment you can buy that has AV ports on it, as well as lots of other different kind of ports. They added detachable faceplates, and have even come out with their own skins. Plus amazing graphics.

I can't speak for the PS3 though, because I have only played on a PS2 once.

PS3: Is not going to work out for Sony. They made a very expensive system, that had the graphics only minimally more advanced then the 360. They are in a hole that will take a long time to get out of, and we just need to see if that is possible for them.

Wii: This is one of those systems everyone should have. Awesome graphics, (Well not as good as the others, but good!) good games (In the future, the current ones teh suckzorz) and a whole new way to play. NOT a bad choice, if I do say so myself!

Xbox 360: To many people are against this. I have no idea why either. This system is fairly inexpensive, between the Wii and the PS3. But its games are the best yet, and have more to come in the future. Although once Halo 3 died down (And since its the last Halo... *sniff*) so will the Xbox, but I think the same thing with every system.

If you go on youtube, you can search for Xbox vs Wii vs PS3, and you barely will ever see the PS3 win. Usually, it end us with the other two, or the 360 and the Wii will team up and be friends and blow up the PS3.

rex, people are against xbox because of all the system meltdowns/burnouts/whatever. i have seen reports of it in every issue of game informer now. i thought it was "april fools" at first (first time i saw that), then i researched more and its actually true. luckily though, if it happens, you get a new one completely free. i dont have one myself (never will), but have heard of it.

i agree with the ps3 deal. the graphics are great, but thats almost it. the wii has a COMPLETELY new game style and could revolutionize the game industry in the comming years. its all ready happening. the wii is knocking down the other two and claiming first place. in my opinion it will stay there for at least a year or two; especially with the newer games like the RE with wii zapper, mario kart (with online play), SSBB (online as well), and a more that are on the tip of my tongue. its just looking bad for the sony. they have been on top for 2 generations now i believe and nintendo's putting up a fight, no, rather a war. lol.

all in all, i WILL most likely get a ps3, but that wont be for another half year at least. the price is too high for an everage income family to go out and blow half a grand. i like my wii and its here to stay. third parties need to realize this and invest more. it needs more action games! ive had enough of party and minigames, I WANT SHOOTERS! luckily they released metroid to keep me busy for a while.

I would probably get a 360 this Christmas. I like the games and there are new ones coming out (*coughhalo3cough*). I haven't tried the PS3 nor the Wii, but I didn't like the PS2. you cant disprove fact though; and the fact is that the wi is selling out faster than the Xbox's. they are sold out across america and i had to stay up all night just to get mine. they are flying off the shelves everywhere here. if you had READ my posts, i SAID that i have nothing against other consols. if you HAD read, i ALSO said that i would very much like a ps3 or xbox, i simply havent the money for it. sadly, this (the PRICE so you dont take my words out of context) is another reason the wii is selling more units. the average gamer would not have 700-800$ to spend on a console. sure, you can get the xbox and ps3 for about 500 or whatever the price is now, but their games are also expensive. the whole deal is just too expensive for the AVERAGE gamer. not every average incom family has a grand to blow on games, consol, controllers, and memory. the wii is just literally half the price of the other systems. for as much as you spend on the ps3, you can get the wii and more than 5 games for it. its just for most people, the cheapest console would be the first thing they go toward.

Well I've always been loyal to Nintendo. That's not saying that the PS 1/2/3/27 or X-Box/X-Box 360 degrees (:)) are not good systems. They are definitely good examples of technological advanced in hardware. But I still prefer the Wii.

Actually the reason there are no more meltdowns is because Microsoft added another heatsink inside the Xbox 360. The original heatsinks were not properly connected to the mobo, and after time the material holding the heatsinks to the mobo became brittell and the heatsink became partially detached from the mobo. This is why the "towel trick" was used, because it would soften the material around the heatsink and temporarilly re-attach to the mobo, but after a while it would become unattached again.

i have not said they are still melting down. i said that people are weary BECAUSE of the fact that they HAVE had many meltdowns. someone that hears this for the first time, whether told about the fan or not, will stay away from xbox. they just had bad luck, and it could haunt them for quite a while.

and as i was saying, the wii is'nt just an upgrade of an old system, like the ps3, ps2, and xbox360. its a completely new design and innovation. sure, its cheap, but the graphics aren't as bad as most describe. they aren't any worst than ps2 graphics, which isnt bad. aside from the graphics not being on par with the current gen systems, the wii has no bad points in my opinion. i mean, most gamers ARE kids who depend on parents purchasing them their consols. and most parents wouldnt want their kid laying on a couch and playing a video game, being lazy, when with the wii, they will be standing up, moving and, believe it or not, actually working out (you will know what i mean if you try the wii sports boxing one a few times. that thing works up a sweat!). its just teh wii has hit ALL the good points and put some good research into their system. rex, i can tell you dont like the wii, but it's here to stay; unlike the gamecube. this thing isnt going out without a fight (if it will at all). ps3 is on the bottom and the wii and xbox are neck and neck for first. just open your eyes and consider some of my points instead of just your own opinions.
heres how i see it with the good points of each consol:

wii:
new motion control controller
wireless infrared laser (i think) wii remote
kids arent being lazy on the couch, they are getting up and moving
its the cheapest consol
games that even moms and dads will get into (fun for the whole family)
unique motion-based games

xbox360:
better graphics
wireless controller
longer, better graphic games


the wii seems to trump the xbox. lol. rex, im sorry. but i will always favor the wii. lol. i would LIKE the ps3 (speaking of, i heard my parents talking about it i believe; and my b-days 19 days away), but i doubt i will get it anytime soon.

samail, yes they do. i saw that too. lol. i didnt get it; dont think i will need it. the wii is designed to be on pretty much 24/7 because of the wiiconect 24/7 feature. but i HAVE hear reports about the new RE4 for wii burning a couple permanent pixels on the wii's screen. but there have only been a few reports i believe. of course, just like the xbox, you can get a free replacement sent or send in the wii to get repaired free.

also, i think its funny, and a little pathetic, that sony is trying to mimic the wii. i have seen "motion controller" attatchments in some stores for the ps2 controllers. basically, you tilt controller left, its the same as moving the analog stick left. its kinda pathetic and hilarious that they must mimic the console that is pretty much pile driving (HAHA! PT REFERENCE!) into the ground.

lol. metroid is fps. and its a GREAT game. next month a wii exclusive resident evil is comming out, which will be a fps. its not 10 year olds, they are just broadening their range rather than just teens. they have a lot of family stuff. not ALL wii games are for 10 year olds, in fact i dont know any that are.
and the best system isnt necesarily the most powerful. look at the sales. the wii is selling almost 10million more units than the ps3. the wii isnt a "toy". and the R&C series got ald after the third game. its so friggen repetitive. if you have played all the first three, you would know.
blue ray disks are nothing special. i cant tell the difference in picture and im sure, unless you play the same movie on two tvs and CLOSELY compare, no one else can. its not like all movies comming out are even on blue ray. the ps3 put everything into graphics, which pushed their unit price so dam high that no one, not even regular gamers, can afford it. 600$ for a console is rediculous. until the price drops to 300 im not getting one. i would rather have a couple new wii games than spend 600$ for a console that really just has the same variety of games as the ps2. it may have better graphics, but its the same crap with the games. ratchet and clack, jak and daxter, grand theft auto, they only focus on remaking old hits instead of brand new ones. there are only 2 games comming out/all ready out that i would like for the ps3; resident evil 5, and final fantasy. sony focuses more on shooting games and they get repetitive at times. then the only fun games they have ARE for 10 year olds (movie-games,and 5 year old crap that even 5 year olds dont wanna play) if i was a hardcore fps gamer, i would get it, but after a while, you want something you can play with your friends thats a switch from the normal stuff.

btw, microsoft lowered the price of their hi def player to 100 something dollars as an attempt to take a hit at sony.

oh and btw rex, they are currently redesigning the xbox360's internal hardware and ARE putting in a better fan, but they have stated themselves that they do not know why their hardware is failing; they are reasearching into it and taking all the measures they can to prevent it. they also extended the warrenty to 3 years after purchase and confirmed they will reimburse every penny you spend on shipping charges and past repairs. its expected to cost them nearly 1 billion dollars. the 'red ring of death' is estimated at affecting nearly 33 percent of the purchased xbox360's.

I'm with Matt on this. Te Wii is not a toy, blue ray discs are nothing special. What good is a movie quality so high, YOU EYES CAN'T EVEN NOTICE THE DIFFERENCE?!? I don't need high end graphics. I don't need good first person shooters. Besides, good is a subjective word. In Matt's opinion, Metroid is good. In my opinion, no FPS is good. I'm waiting for Pikmin 3, SSBB, etc.

We'll I'd say blue_moon nailed it. Only thing iffy there is the graphics part. Awesome graphics are nice and definitely improve the value of a system. I just don't like it when people judge based on only how good it looks. A colorful box wrapped up at Christmas looks really nice. That's assuming someone didn't stuff it with crap. :)

I don't understand the commercial. Sony needs to actually show the PS3 being played in there commercial, like the Wii does, the 360 doesn't either it just says "Jump In". The Xbox commercials are just trying to be different, and the PS3 commercials just try to look cool. The Wii actually shows people playing it and having fun.

and like someone said. even if you get a over-priced blue ray dvd player, you need i high-ddef tv as well. you would wind up spending WELL ovver 1500 dollars to get the full experience of the ps3 and that is just way too expensive. very few people have high def TVs, so its not like the blue ray thing will make a difference.

as i said, the ps3 is RIDICULOUSLY over-priced! i could care less about the blue ray player; i dont have a high-def TV and most likely NEVER will. so im paying the extra couple hundred dollars for something useless to me. DVDs are fine just the way they are. blue ray wont revolutionize the market. it wont diminate dvds. its just way too expensive for the average family. and without a high def tv, it makes no difference from a regular dvd.

what sony needs to do, if possible, make a version of their consol without the blue ray thing and lower their rediculous price. THEN i would buy it.

and xbox will most likely take 2nd place after christmas. there are still many reports of system meltdowns, hard drive malfunctions, and even games being scratched from the low amount of cushioning around the laser. micosoft needs to figure out why these systems are not working and fix it before christmas, or the wii will jump up above them.

lastly, the wii should have more consols sold than the xbox. the wii is literally sold out across america, yet i can find an xbox 360 easily if i wanted. nintendo, even though they deny it, are intentionally limiting the amount of consoles shipped to america just so they will be sold out. this is going to hurt them. though they could be stockpiling them for the holidays. who knows. guess we will have to wait and see who can get more out and claim first place.

Personally I really don't care how good a system is if its games aren't. Honestly, the only thing that appeals to me in the Wii is SSBB, but I'd never buy a console just for one game. Nothing available on Playstation consoles (of any kind) has ever really appealed to me either. Xbox 360 on the other hand, has Halo 3, Forza Motorsport 2, and, well... Microsoft has managed to keep me entertained with their console, so I trust them for that lol...

The console with the most great games (my definition of best) would definitely have to be the SNES. Earthbound, Super Mario RPG, Super Mario World, Super Famicom wars... The list drags on, and all of these games have kept me playing them for hours and hours on end. I don't really like the changes Nintendo has made to their Wii; it should've been like an über-Gamecube and had a more normal name, (it was originally called the Revolution, what was wrong with that?) and should've focused on more than just the massive amounts of kiddy games...

My Nintendo console collection is also now complete as of yesterday! My friend has, or rather, had, 3 NESs in his house. So he gave one to me, with a controller. I then went down stairs back at my place and found an RF switch, and then headed to Microplay (http://www.microplay.com/) and bought Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt, and Super Mario Bros. 3. (Someone had come in with a whack of stuff a week ago. Though someone else bought some of the excellent pickings.) Now I'm just waiting for the AC adapter to deliver 9V and 850 mA to the system.

And I did all of this after school before my mother got off work. I'm not sure she'd approve. But once it's working, it's a done deal.
Carefully thought of a plan and executed it on the fly. :) Glad my dad got home at 5:00 or I would have had to walk down to Microplay and back.

ive always loved final fantasy (dam rex, you and i are like COMPLETE opposites 0_o) and want a ps3 for that game. luckily, the next FF has been estimated to be released in a year and a half due to a major roadblock in marketing and programming i believe. so the ps3 should be lowered a couple hundred more by the time that comes out.

i have NEVER owned an xbox or even played one, so i cant vouch for what is good and what isnt. their online thing seems good (though pricey) and i have watched my dad play the original halo for the computer YEARS ago and it was an awesome game. never played it myself though. i would love to, but wouldnt buy an xbox just for that.

im also looking foward to the mario kart for the wii. it will also be online play, SINGLE char, not like the stupid double dash (never played but looks incredibly lame). i love racing games and going online against others should be neat. thats estimated for january though. so....

as i said, i do believe the xbox will pull ahead on christmas time due solely to the fact of halo 3. im just rooting for the wii is all.

and the only other game im looking foward to from the wii is the resident evil UC one. sadly, that will take the place of RE 5 which will be out for xbox and ps, but not wii. its basically an arcade shooter for the wii. i like that it will be two players at least. it will also be a rail shooter...soo....that could hurt the game. i like the puzzles and all in the RE series too, not just the shooting....

The only thing I wish the Wii had was an Ethernet port, because to get online you need to buy a wireless router, one of their USB Wi-Fi things, or buy their LAN router. You can't just simply use an Ethernet cable, which is super annoying because I will probably never be able to get online with my Wii because of that.

the further you are from the router, the weaker the signal becomes. try not to have the router on one floor and the computer on another, if you have a 2 story house. the signal doesnt like going through objects and gets weaker if it has to.

everlast, if you have a router, you dont need a wireless connection device. the wii has wi-fi built into it. if your router is sending out wireless connection, you wii will automatically pick up on it. you dont need accesories for it. you WILL need an adapter if you dont have a router to plug in an ethernet cord.
