Hi! I'm from Russia. Want many new weapons, game modes, models of tanks, online/LAN mode, bug fixes. New weapons - very important.

I don't think anybody NEEDS new weapons right now. Mike usually dishes them out at good intervals. Just when u think you're tired of the latest, a new pack comes out.

The next 20 weapons are all prototyped and functioning. I still have to polish them all up with good sound effects, icons, etc....

As for net play and the other fun stuff mentioned... I'm still deciding on that. We do have a network version in-house but it's buggy. If we can't nail down the net play soon enough, then I think we are just going to start from scratch on the next artillery game engine. It's all for the best, I assure you. :)

There will be a minor update to Pocket Tanks soon-ish. The most important feature is the ablity to toggle various weapons on and off. That helps a 'ton' when I'm developing new weapons.

I like the weapon-toggling idea. Woohoo mike!

Mike,

I feel like a new engine is going to morph the game. Although it would shake things up for people like me who have been playing PT for years, it would compromise it's classic gameplay...wouldn't it?

Hi, i think Lommen is wrong, they don't come out at good intervals. but I understand that, I mean he has to animate them and everything.

My goal for writing games is to make sure that they are still fun 30 years from now. So, what will probably happen is that I will keep enhancing Pocket Tanks for the next 30 years and keep the gameplay virtually the same. I want Pocket Tanks to be something like checkers or chess... a game that lasts.

However, I'm at the point where it's time to make a new artillery game engine. That is most likely where you'll start to see interactive objects, various terrain types, DOT "Damage Over Time" weapons, more than 2 players, team play, online play, etc....

I can't decide if it will be a 'spin off' of the Pocket Tanks world or a next-gen version of Pocket Tanks itself. One way or the other, I'll be spending 2007 working on a bigger 'artillery' game. For the old Amiga fans, think Scorched Tanks with all the enhancements you ever hoped for plus internet and network play.

As I've told folks before, Pocket Tanks and Super DX-Ball are going to be actively supported for the rest of my life... constantly ported to the latest computers as well as carefully enhanced and upgraded. In a world where new things come and go at a silly pace, I'd rather make stuff that sticks around for the long haul.

Oh, and by the way... I think that the next "artillery" game should be a "spin off" and not a next-gen version of Pocket Tanks. My reason for thinking this is that if it is a whole new game, it doesn't have to be geared towards being "Pocket Tanks like" as much. It opens up different possibilities...

Anyways, that's just my opinion, with all the value and consideration it's due (not much). :) What do you think?

Sorry, Mike is hard at work trying to get these next weapons packs out by the end of the week. He might not be around to answer questions or give feedback as much as he'd like to until that's done.

This count has been increased to 99 for Target Practice in 1.10 and later.

woah, some weird weapons on PT already. hope they dont go down to creating mr pogo the explosive bunny rabbit... :p btw. it just felt like a good place to post this, but i think there should be a weapon, nearly same as minigun. but fires more. and doesnt damage land. i had fun with roman cracker. keeping landscape all in place but it doesnt fire fast enough. if mike can make it and would id be looking forward to it :D

I am seriously wondering why people ignore stickied topics and go find an ancient unofficial one instead...
