Is Pocket Tanks, Super DX-Ball, and Neon Wars compatible with Windows Vista? I've heard rumors that Vista had many problems with many people's programs and games. Are there any known issues with Pocket Tanks, Super DX-Ball, or Neon Wars with Vista?

I haven't tried SDXB, but the other two work perfectly well on my Vista...

Yep, Vista Ultimate here, on a dual core Intel beast, 2 gigs ram, and 8800GTS graphics. Pocket Tanks an Super DX Ball run great, real smooth!

its the "unresolved bonuses" that come with vista that have me firmly rooted in the XP camp.

I'd sooner jump ship to Mac or Linux than get vista.

I'd get Vista, because Vista's been subjected to the cool to hate thing. It's really not that bad. Just turn off all those unnamed "unresolved bonuses." Like UAC and the "improved firewall." I'd burn Mac OSX 10.5 in a flash, and Linux is ok... But nothing runs on it. It's like saying "one of my programs doesn't run on Vista, so I'll switch to Linux where none of them run.

thing is, Microsoft had something with windows 2000, it was actually rock solid stable, as in hit it with a nuke and it keeps on going.

XP, basically a much fancier version of 2000, with some problems, I admit, but, a distinct far cry from the "I want to kick my computer to the curb and set the vista dvd onto the backyard grill and watch it melt" problems of vista

vista is the spawn of the red skinned guy with the horns and pointy tail holding a pitch fork in one hand.

WINE (wine is not an emulator) is surprisingly good at doing what it does, especially for being on Linux. However, that's not really running it on Linux. It's still running on Windows. An ACTUAL Linux port will probably never be released, it would be a better choice to port to an OS who actually buy their software.

It's really running windows code on linux. You even defined it.

wine is NOT an emulator...

*goes back to play pocket tanks on linux*

EDIT: list of programs that wine runs: appdb.winehq.org (http://appdb.winehq.org)

Wine variant that is made specifically for games (this one costs money) : Cedega (http://transgaming.com/products/cedega/6.0/)

I'm gonna make the leap to vista, for several reasons:
1. halo 2, not the main reason.
2. need to learn the new os.
3. will have fun learning said os
4. need to so I can get my -CENSORED- of a stepsister off my back finally!!!!
5. it's the only os available for the laptop I've decided to get.
6. said laptop is also the only decent one I've found that has a dedicated 3d card of any caliber.

disagree with my reasoning if you must, but, please, save all flames and shouts of hipocracy(I cant freaking find the correct freaking spelling, so just deal!) for someone truly deserving of it.

Back on topic. VISTA IS THE BEST apart from the IP to IP or hamachi problem.

1. That was on topic. The thread is basically about OS compatibility with BlitWise software.

2. Vista is not the best.

So far I`ve come to the conclusion that Vista is alright all around. There are a few things it does not work with, but you can sometimes find ways around it.

THEN WHY DOES IT NOT WORK FOR ME,

I guess it doesn't like you.

Vista has it's upsides.
Once you understand and accept Vista and accept the reality of Vista its pretty sweet.
I you dont try new things you are going to reject them.
You can't say Vista is bad just because you had some bad luck and gave up on it.

You can even revert the Start Menu to the classic form if you're that hooked on XP.

Vista has compatibility modes for all applications and and easy to use run-as-administrator option, or you can disable the User Account Control (despite what they say...it really is useless, there are other programs/precautions installed that protect you better than the UAC)

I have Vista...and many XP-era games that, with compatibility mode, run perfectly fine. Some I dont even need the compatability mode.
