Ever since I started playing Pocket Tanks and read about Scorched Tanks, I wanted to play Scorched Tanks myself! The problem is how do I emulate it with WinUAE?

I've uploaded ADF's here, for folks that want to experiment with Amiga emulation... I strongly recommend purchasing Amiga Forever these days since the have WinUAE perfectly configured, and they have 'official' rights to use the amiga roms.

Here is an ADF for Scorched Tanks v1.90 registered:

I imagine these disks are bootable, so it's easier to get working in WinUAE.

I have not tested these ADF's recently. Hopefully that V1.90 disk is not some cracked version. Let me know if I need to make an ADF of my own and post it myself... I'll take just about any excuse to bust out my Amiga 1200.

Only Mike's links will work with what I'm going to tell you. Part of the problem is you need v1.3 Kickstart ROM. Of course it is copyrighted stuff so it is illegal to freely distribute the file. I can't remember where I found the Kickstart ROM, so good luck with that.

scorched earthv1.90 only worked after i renamed it to a shorter file name, but it does work, thanks for the roms.

All you would have gotten was a tank with 3 turrets... Not really worth it if you ask me... The game was essentially free...

Besides Wendall moved on to other things... Although there are still talks of a Sequel that probably will never happen...

i have everything you need to play scorched tanks.

its not really legal for me to distribute it, but if you want, i can "secretly' pack it all into a .rar, and post it here.

okokok. i have made the SCORCHED TANKS ESSENTIALS .rar file. if you want it, just PM me.

HOW TO GET THIS GAME TO WORK:

first, you need to download and install WinUAE. don't worry, it's free

now, i will send you the .rar file over EMAIL, because it's generally illegal for me to be giving this to anyone. so you have to PM me your EMAIL ADDRESS for the .rar.

once you get the .rar file, you will recieve a couple things - and .ADF file, a .Info file, a folder with a bunch of wierd files, and the EXTREMELY ellusive kickstart 1.3 rom file. (thank me for finding that POS).

anyway, to get WinUAE working, you have to implant the correct .Rom file, which i have supplied for you. to do this, you have to go in the ROM tab of the WinUAE table map (it has a picture of a motherboard next to it, and the big letters ROM).

once you're in this tab, click the button next to the "Main Rom File" textbox, and load the kickstart v1.3 rom file.

now that you have the rom, the program will work, but nothing will be loaded. you'll just have an empty emulated amiga workbench. no scorched tanks.

SO, to PLAY scorched tanks, go back to the quickstart tab (it has the picture of the big green sideways arrow next to it) and click the big button labeled "Select Disk Image", about halfway down, above the long textbox. select the Scorched Tanks .adf file.

now, click the start button at the bottom of the screen. The amiga workbench will start to load.

when the blue screen pops up (might take about 10 seconds), go to the bottom right corner. there will be a little white button. click it, and drag it towards the upper left corner. now that pesky screen is out of the way of the the scorched tanks floppy disk image. double click, then load the game. DING!

On topic, I sure wish I had sound with my Amiga emulator, but it's still a cool feeling to finally be playing this.

in other news, i've had sucess finding the .mod files to the sounds, WHICH, btw, are not only just as ****ing hard to find as a .rom file, but also a incredible pain in the @ss to convert to some sort of intelligible sound format.

yet i've already got horizon's edge converted to mp3, and scorch end 1 is en-route from my back source converter.


EDIT: i have both files, and i am now updating all file assosiations so they auto-organize in media players that organize by author, album, ETC.

btw, Scorch-End 1 is the opening theme in v1.9, i believe. still have to find this out.
Horizon's Edge is the music you hear all the time in version older than v1.9. however, i believe it is the between game theme in v1.9.

btw, you guys are all lucky im dedicated to maintaining this. i've just HAPPENED to stumble on a trail of a 3.1 kickimage rom file. this will enable you the usage of possibly the most up to date, ROM packed version of the amiga emulator. and of course, all v1.9 graphics and audio of ST.

how hard is this to find? remember in pokemon blue/red version (and i mean the ORIGINAL versions), how hard it was to find all 3 legendary birds? yeah, imagine that x3.

i should have the new ROM file within the next week, i will send it out to all previous downloaders default, and add it in place of the 1.3 rom file in the existing .rar. i believe it will also change the way you use WinUAE slightly, as well...i'll have to test it out first, update instructions, then send it out.

you're lucky i'm not making you pay for all this...
