I am a great fan of tycooning games. They're my #1 favourite (besides Pocket Tanks) to play any day.

Making one of these, I'm guessing, would require a ton of time to create; having in mind that it would be a completely new tycooning game. The only thing that I don't know is what the topic should/could be.

Any comments?

Roller Coster Tycoon 1 & 2 are awesome. Once I get a new computer, they are going on it.

I love RollerCoaster Tycoon... When I used to play The first one... My favorite thing to do... would be building up a Great Rollercoaster then Destroying a peice to see what would happen to the riders...

I haven't played RC2 for a long time...

I think these ideas should go in the fan submisions thread.

This is the place where news goes, not ideas.

How about "Army Tycoon"?

I have Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 with both expansions, it is so fun, in number one some roller coasters don't need to be complete, like steel ones they just do something like go down, do a loop, do 2 helixes and make a tall slope so the caridge goes up the slope and falls down doing the same thing back to the station platform and there also boosted(a type of set up in gear thing up top), not sure which ones work like that in RCT2 though but I have saw some screen shots of them, its fun though to boost the launch speed and watch it fly off when there are people on it! :D

You know... I think your right... But I do remember finding ways to endanger the riders...

Kaz21

Yes some rides are lauched so the track doesent need to be complete so it lauches does a loop then goes up a slope falls down the slope back around the loop and stops, and you can increase the launch speed to the coaster flys off the slope and blows up on the ground.
It was also fun drowning guests hehe...

My favorite accomplishment was:
>making a ride that makes the car go up behind it then lets the car go
>it goes so fast that it goes past the end
>landed on the next part of the track
>does that a bit, then blows up

Drowning guests is mean:mad:

BUT, I do think that it's funny when I make an absolutely gut-wrenching roller coaster that after the end comes a huge jump or something like that:rolleyes:

I don't like #3, its not what I expected. #1 is my personal favorite, but #2 is pretty good because its more customizable.

Going back even further than the Amiga or Atari ST, some of the games that gave me much joy were on the Spectrum. Ones that spring to mind were Elite (space game), Stockmarket (multiplayer), Sentinel. A bunch of friend and I still huddle around the PC playing a version of Stockmarket that I re-wrote (Spectrum Basic), and play it in a Speccy simulator on the PC. Wish I had the skills to convert it to PC.

@ Bluemoon: I didn't like RCT3 either. My favourite is RCT2 because I've made some pretty sweet rollercoasters there.

blue_moon

RCT3 broke the entire series. 3D stinks. 1 was the best but its not compatible anymore. If I was Blitwise, I'd make it 2D if they did... But I think TD game will be next.

I just remembered that in RCT1 I made a rollercoaster that was too big, and no one went on it. They would start heading towards the ride, then walk away. I even tried dropping people into the line, but they kept walking out.

Slade

You have to look at their "preffered ride" stats and you should check on your ride's stats also. The guests won't go on a ride if you push them to do it. However, if you drop the guest on the path outside the queue line(s) so that he will walk in the direction of the lines, he'll most likely go on that ride (if it has good stats, that is.)

Yeah. My bad roller coasters usually have a very high intensity and the cool ones are milder. Is there any way to run WIN95 games of your Windows XP?

I think you can, by doing nothing. don't quote me though.

The RCT1 game isn't compatible... So I do need to so something. I tried compatibility mode. Its not that its not running, its just a bunch of different, wrong colors.

In the world of "Tycoon" I'm surprised that Monopoly Tycoon wasn't mentioned. It was a bright, colorful, simple, first to make "Tycoon" games multilayer game.
Ill admit I still play it. It was made even better my an unofficial patch allowing the selection of maps for players to use, instead of a stock map for each game type.
It had a lot of room for "convenience" and "user interface" improvement, but I always thought general game play was well done.
Always sad that Deep Red never could make at least ONE sequel with more AIs, better graphics and more options.
Sigh and oh well.

I guess Monopoly Tycoon can't match a good well played Roller Coaster Tycoon title!  :p ;) :D :o :) :(   :scared:   That's why it calls the full smiley platter here!

I just found a really neat idea in a tycooning game called "Video Game Tycoon".

The characters may be limited, but it sounds like great fun. Just plug the title in a google search and you'll see this:

http://www.gamesweet.com/

If Blitwise made a game like this -- where you can choose from a very large series of items/character sprites/weapons/etc. -- I think that it would be really neat. It could be called something like "Blitwise Productions Presents: GAME TYCOON". heh heh...

PS> Expansions would be for more items/characters/unlockables/secret things and more.

blue_moon

It would be cool... But that would use immense amounts of time to make.

Tycoon games generally take forever to make... unless they suck.

Slade

They take time and after the long duration, the end product will be outstanding...

In other words, time is the only downside.

Yeah, and they have great replay. I got the original RCT to work on my computer, I love it!
