I've been hoping for a Blitwise Forum for a while... :) I've spent a bit of time in the Pockets tanks mini-forum at the Gamefaqs website... hopefully the users there find there way here... I'm sure they will... And I also hope for a better Variety of Smilies!! :D

Thanks for your interest, biggman. We're working on things bit by bit here. Some BlitWise themed Avatars as well as a greater variety of smilies are on my list, at least, for things to look into. Glad you found your way over, and indeed, hopefully more will follow.

Mike revealed 2 of the "twenty" new weapons that he currently has prototyped. He is just "polishing them off".
The snowball fight and Mass Driver are the 2 he named.

Hi everyone! Hardcore Pocket Tanks fan here, just want to say first of all how great PT is, great job Mike. :D I'm looking forward to more weapons and the future updates too. :)

There's a totally new game coming out in mid-September, so my Pocket Tanks efforts have been waylaid a little bit. However there will be a new set of weapons released in the next couple of weeks... before the brand new game goes gold. The release of the updated version of Pocket Tanks is up-in-the-air, but it definite needs to get released sooner than later.
Thanks for the encouragement! There's a lot of great stuff in the works for the Pocket Tanks fans. :)

Mike...just a thought...do we have to pay for the new version if we already paid for the current full version or will it be a free update to what we have already

Well, it's not a Pocket Tanks game, guys. Something new and exciting. There should be a shareware version, but if you want the Deluxe of this particular beauty, you've got to cough up for it. :D

Woo! The Blitwise community finally has forums. For the longest time I frequented the Pocket Tanks board of GameFAQs.com, then stopped going to GameFAQs in early June.
I'm loving the theme used on these forums. Very easy on the eyes. ;)

You have some sort problem, Brooks. STOP REVIVING THE THREADS! Seriously, every time you bump a useless topic, the useful ones get bumped down and ignored. I feel a temporary ban is in order, but thats just me. Your looking for attention, and your getting the bad kind.

Well, we could give him no privileges to post in threads that haven't had posts in one week, I wish I was a moderator.

Hi. Is a moderator someone who can keep track of unused threads and post in them?

A moderator is a Brain :P Seriously though, A moderator can edit anyone's posts, ban people, change names and some other stuff.

In short, moderators are basically the masters of the forum, and have complete control over everything. (I think it's everything. Just about, anways.)
...and I think a temporary ban is way too much for reviving almost dead threads. I don't even think its an offence at all. Is it in the rules anywhere? I didn't see it.
Was It Me?
02-20-2007, 10:36 PM
There are differing levels of "mod-ship" however... Some can do most anything, while others may be limited to moving threads and such.

Yeah, I'll liist what I know:
Admin: master of the universe (Brian, Brian, and uh, Brian)
Moderator: runs specific forums or does other moderator things
Some forums have these:
Local Moderator: same as moderator
Global Moderator: same as above but different

I'm definetly sigging that. Oh, and by the way, that was not on purpose. I am that kind of person that'll answer with something that makes too much sense. Examples:
----
Person: what are you eating?
Me: what I am eating.
----
Person: so where is the house?
Me: if you go down one way its on the left but if you down the other way its on the right
----
Me: I like pain.
Person: you like pain?
Me: I do?
----
ON TOPIC:
Now the topic was necrobumped by one of the rare meaningful JB bumps, I'll ask. Who is the first non-mod member? And I recently noticed some posters are in a group called Infraction 1, is that some sort of super secret underground army? What is it!?

Alright...just a little bit of info. Administrators and Moderators are basically this: People who work for Blitwise. Yes, we can pretty much delete, move, or edit anything. Yes, we can reprimand and/or ban you. I do it several times a day with spammers. The primary person you will see in this role is me. You may also see Ben or Mike A. editing or deleting, particularly if I'm gone for the day. Of course, Mike W. is also a moderator, but I think we all agree that his time is better spent elsewhere.
On to the issue raised. Yes, something has been done. Clearly, John has not been banned, nor has he been restricted. Frankly, I was assuming a policy of not talking about it, but John was kind enough to share the PM I sent him in another thread, so, here it is. Yes, necro-bumping can be considered a violation of the TOS (http://forums.blitwise.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6). This falls under the category of "behavior which is disruptive to the environment or running of the BlitWise forums". It's a subjective thing, admittedly. I would say the crux of the matter is whether or not you are contributing something to the "dead" discussion or not. (A special case for a "contentless" bump may be if someone has started a thread on the same topic, and you bump the old thread for their benefit and/or contribution. Of course, this could just as easily be accomplished by a link to the old thread posted in the new.) I hope that clears it up. Brian dixit causa finita est.
It isn't my policy to discuss disciplinary matters or private correspondance in a public forum, so that's all I'm going to say on the matter. As to "Infraction Group 1" that someone asked about, as its name suggests, it's not really a party club. If you continually commit minor offenses (or commit one large offense) your infractions will pile up, until you are automatically changed from a Registered User to an appropriate Infraction Group, resulting in the loss of some minor privileges.

I'm not sure how infractions work, can someone explain?
Brian
02-21-2007, 06:52 PM
Infractions are quite simple...you do something wrong, and you get one. If you spam the board with porn ads, you get an automatic, never expiring ban level infraction (100 points). If you use foul language, harass another poster, throw your trash on the sidewalk, whatever, you get a minor infraction, usually between 5 and 20 points. Most infractions expire between 7 and 14 days, meaning, say your infraction points are 8, expiring in 10 days. In 5 days...still 8. In ten days, your point level is 0 again. It's basically a system to reprimand and correct unwanted behavior, which usually only affects your account if you repeatedly commit offenses in a short period of time.
That about answer your questions?
Zwaken
02-21-2007, 06:57 PM
Yes, thank you. so ya, John Brooks, if you just stop necrobumping, then everything will go back to normal.

Reviving certian threads with relevant and/or helpful information is fine. Like everyone says, just don't spam up the boards with three-word posts consisting of giberish that wind up bumping other threads down, and you should be fine.
Brian
02-21-2007, 07:09 PM
Alright, I think that this has gone a bit far. I'd really like for the whole matter to drop, and the forum to just resume it's business. This thread is locked, and I'm going to have to consider actions against posters who bring the matter up.
