Does anyone have any easter eggs that they'd like to post, because this is the place!

I'll start off with 1 easter egg for microsoft word 97:

1. type 'Blue'
2. highlight 'Blue' and go to font. Change the colour to 'Blue'
3. keep the font highlighted and press the 'bold' button (Blue
4. press the 'right' arrow key then press the spacebar.
5. go to the 'Help' menu and go to 'About Microsoft Word' or something like that.
6. now a window should pop-up. Click with your mouse on the icon in the picture on the window.
7. a 'Microsoft 97' pinball game should start-up.
8. press 'Esc' to quit.

Also please fill out the poll with your knowledge of these things...

In Microsoft Excel 97 there is a well hidden Flight Simulator built in. :)

1. Press Ctrl-G
2. Type L97:X97
3. Press Enter
4. Press Tab
5. While holding the Shift and Ctrl keys down,
6. Click on the "Chart Wizard" icon.

If you fly around for long enough, you will find a monolith with the names of the product development team scrolling on it. Press 'Esc' to return to the spreadsheet.

Well, the only one I know of are...

Open Microsoft Word and type =rand() then press enter....and a bunch of lines come up. I think it works on all versions of Windows, or at least on XP and Melinium (spelled wrong)

Right click your desktop, go to properties > screensaver. Select 3D text, hit settings and type volcano as the text. Hit apply and OK. Hit preview and you should see the last names of the developers of Mirosoft. (It worked for my WindowsMelinium but not my XP)

Republic Commando: When your on the rescue mission on the republic ship, there is one corridor that you crawl through. When your inside turn the other way and walk a bit, your guy will see a lightsaber and say "A weapon for a more civilized time eh, well guess what, times have changed"

In any folder, try to create a folder called 'con' or 'Con'. It won't work. Windows just un-renames the file or puts up an error saying it already exists.

That Con thing is really weird, I wonder what the point behind that is...

Well I didn't get an error on my computer, it just went back to "New Folder" when I tried to name it Con.

Oh, this isn't really an egg, more like, something weird. On my old computer (WindowsMe) I went to Run and typed in regedit, and the CmdPromt popped up and said, "This program has performed an illegal operation, you must close all other program and restart your computer". I did this on my families computer (Windows XP) and it worked fine.

Definetly! Plus macs have overall poor gaming and are meant for video and data uses... As of documents/spreadsheets/internet/chat.

Well, if you are talking about the selection of Mac games available, then I would have to agree. Otherwise, I disagree.

When somone says they have a computer, 99% of the time they are talking about Bill Gates version. Macs are sparsingly used where I live.

Actually any combination where the first word has 4 letters the next two words have 3 letters and the last have 5 letters will show up as un-readable text

Wow, that's really weird, having just tried it...

And while I generally dislike macs, I'd say that they aren't that bad, it just seems to me that most people who use them regularly get an ego so huge that it envelops Pluto and the galaxy Andromeda...

If you have bootcamp installed on your mac you get it all, Mac and Windows.

Agreed, and bootcamp isn't so great. It windows on that runs rather slow and has many incompatabilities with most games requiring some form of direct-x and has an .exe linking to more .exes or a non mac compatable file.

No, or at least at my case .

You don't need to call the file "bush.txt", you only need to write "bush hid the facts" in notepad . ;)

It seems that some people are talking about real easter eggs and some about PC easter eggs . lol

But, I think that easter eggs are indeed mysterious .

if you have an old mac (2+ years old) and you open Terminal (mac equivalent of command prompt) and type in
Bill Gates
it will reply
Kill Gates, OK?
:) :) :)

this really not an easter egg its just that terminal attempts to spell-check any invalid commands. (they have fixed this on newer macs though:( )

Anyway, may I say easter eggs are put in the game/program by the actual makers of the game, opposed to a glitch (accidentally put in) or a cheat (by a hacker). So therefore, you can use them freely without risks.

Slade
04-08-2007, 01:45 AM
Exactly! These 'so called' easter eggs are, or were at any rate, codes and combinations of keys and steps purposely placed into the program(s) to perform various tests involving the usage of the program(s). They ARE NOT IN-PLANTED BY A HACKER'S SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE.

dr Evil
04-09-2007, 02:12 AM
err...
cheats arn't by hackers...
that's called a trainer or a hack....

Easter Eggs are so cool I love them lol, they truely do add to the gameplay because right when you think you have searched the whole game or program you come across something awesome!
For the ultimate fun in the pinball game type "hidden test" with none of these " things just after you start a game and you can just drag the ball around, other keys have other effect like pressing "h" after this gives you a high score of 10 million!
Another one is if you press Alt + Shift + 2 at the same time you automatically win! This is a great party trick, just ask your friends to turn around, say you will win they turn and you have in a few seconds! Wow!
Have Fun!

I have to say this. The one thing that Windows users can do that Mac users can't is: Shut up about using a Mac.

Anyway, I love easter eggs, especially the ones that reveal a secret, or a cool thing.

Yes I liked the Smiley Face one in GTA Liberty City Storys and GTA Vice City Storys, that was kinda funny or it may not be the storys ones... but if noone has actually seen these things in GTA3/Liberty City Storys(Not sure which one) on a wall there is a smiley face and it has a speech bubble and says "Your not Supposed to be Here!" and then in GTA Vice City(Stories)(Also not sure which one) it says "Welcome Back!" it was kinda funny I liked it also in Ratchet and Clank 3 on a planet(not sure which one though) if you shoot the moon with the splitter rifle it shrinks until it explodes and then the planet until you leave will be triple as hard.
Have Fun!
